Hawks Eye View: EP 4.13 Elite Eight Hangover, Portal Wins, & 2025-26 Roster Breakdown with Tyler (TCraigsHoops) & Ben Stan

Andrew Barber and AJ are joined by returning favorite Tyler (TCraigsHoops) and first-time guest Ben Stan for a deep, no-filters dive into Iowa Hawkeyes basketball’s magical Elite Eight run and what comes next under Ben McCollum. The crew reflects on the emotional highs of the tournament run, the electric Carver-Hawkeye crowds, the sting of the Michigan loss, and how this season forever changed expectations for the program. They break down the two key transfer portal additions — 7'3" McKeever from St. Mary’s and versatile guard/forward Coleman — analyzing film, fit, and how McCollum’s system will unlock them alongside returning pieces like Cam and Cale Combs. They also preview the incoming freshmen (Ethan Harris, Jaden Kuhn, Trey Thompson, and more), discuss redshirt possibilities, depth at the wings and bigs, and why the 2025-26 roster already feels like it has serious Big Ten potential. Additional topics include the controversial NCAA Tournament expansion to 76 teams, Ben McCollum’s extension outlook, Carver-Hawkeye facility rumors, and quick hits on Iowa football’s spring game and the NBA playoffs. Filmed live from the AKC Andrew Downs Studios and powered by Revelton Distilling Company. Hawks Eye View 4.12: Iowa Falls to Illinois, Portal Talk, Bigs & Guards Needed + April Fools Chaos

Andrew Barber and AJ Hawksby-Defino break down Iowa’s Elite Eight run and heartbreaking loss to Illinois. The Hawkeyes hung tough for 32 minutes before Illinois’ size and talent took over in the final stretch. The guys discuss rebounding woes, Bennett Sturtz’s tournament dominance, Keaton Wagler’s dominance, Ben McCollum’s bright future, and what the transfer portal means for next season. They dive deep into roster needs — a true scoring guard (or two), a rim-protecting big man, and how to best use the extra NIL money from the Elite Eight run. Plus, speculation on who might return or enter the portal, emerging freshmen like Trey Thompson and Ethan Harris, and realistic transfer targets. They also touch on the women’s side with Addie Deal entering the portal and what that means for next year. The episode wraps with football buzz, spring ball notes, and plenty of Hawkeye optimism heading into the offseason. Sponsors: Revelton Distilling – Crafted in the heart of Iowa.
