This sermon is from our series walking through the book of 2 Peter. In his final letter, Peter calls believers to grow in the knowledge of Christ, stand firm in the truth, guard against false teaching, and live faithfully in light of Christ's return.
False teaching is not a new problem, and Christians should not be surprised when it appears, even within the church itself. The Apostle Peter warned that false teachers would arise from within, not just from outside, and that many people would follow them. These teachers are often charismatic, persuasive, and difficult to spot because they use familiar language and quote Scripture. Two key markers to watch for are arrogance and a rejection of authority. Every false theology also carries a false morality, reshaping how people live, not just what they believe. The good news is that God is not caught off guard. He has always known how to protect His people while holding the unrighteous accountable, and He will continue to do so.

What Will Keep Your Faith Steady? | 2 Peter 1:12-21
This sermon is from our series walking through the book of 2 Peter. In his final letter, Peter calls believers to grow in the knowledge of Christ, stand firm in the truth, guard against false teaching, and live faithfully in light of Christ’s return.
When life gets uncertain, it is easy to look for dramatic signs or emotional experiences to steady our faith. Peter, writing near the end of his life, points believers to something far more reliable than personal experience. Even as an eyewitness to the transfiguration of Jesus, he declares that the written Word of God is more fully confirmed than what he saw and heard on that mountain. Scripture was not produced by human will but by men carried along by the Holy Spirit, making it uniquely trustworthy. The lamp has always been there. The challenge is whether we are paying attention to it. A steady faith is not built on feelings or dramatic moments but on consistent, serious engagement with God's Word. The answer to uncertainty has been available all along.

Am I Worthy of Calling Myself a Christian | 2 Peter 1:1-11
This sermon is from our series walking through the book of 2 Peter. In his final letter, Peter calls believers to grow in the knowledge of Christ, stand firm in the truth, guard against false teaching, and live faithfully in light of Christ’s return.
Many believers quietly wonder if their faith is real or strong enough to truly make them a Christian. Second Peter 1 offers a clear and comforting answer: your standing before God is not based on the strength of your faith but on the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Just as the blood of the Passover lamb protected every household regardless of how confident or fearful the people inside were, the blood of Jesus covers all who place any measure of faith in Him. Faith itself is not something you generate on your own. It is a gift God reaches out and gives. If you look at God's promises and find them precious, that response is already evidence that God is at work in you. Your faith may feel small, but your Savior is strong, and it is His strength, not yours, that saves.
