This stop in the Baltimore Market Series brings Rev and I to Broadway Market in the heart of Fells Point, one of the city’s oldest public markets with a vibrant present and a bold future. In this episode, Rev and I sit down with key voices from the Baltimore Public Markets Corporation who are helping to shape what these markets mean today. Brooke Bachman, Leasing Manager, shares how vendors are selected and supported and what goes into curating a dynamic market experience. Jackie Sims, Director of HR, talks about the culture behind the scenes and the people who make the markets run every day. Charisse Nichols, Director of Storytelling and Content, offers a powerful look at how narrative, memory, and identity are preserved and why storytelling is central to market revitalization. We also hear from Victoria Powers, owner of Vikki’s Fells Point Deli, a beloved staple of Broadway Market. With passion and purpose, she reflects on her journey as a small business owner, the community she serves, and what it means to be part of a living, breathing institution. This episode is filled with energy, insight, and pride. It is about entrepreneurship, legacy, and the people who make Broadway Market more than just a place to eat. It is a community in motion. Tune in as we unpack what it takes to keep a historic market current and rooted at the same time.

He's Holy I'm Knott Welcomes Sheriff Sam Cogen, Sheriff of Baltimore City

For the first time ever, Rev and I recorded live from the Justice Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center at the historic P.S. 103 Building. This building was once home to one of America’s greatest legal minds and is now a growing hub of civic engagement and community transformation. In this episode, we sit down with Baltimore City Sheriff Sam Cogen, whose story bridges cities and communities. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Sheriff Cogen found more than just a career in Baltimore. He found purpose and home. With candor and confidence, Sheriff Cogen reflects on his personal journey, the values that ground him, and the leadership philosophy that guides his work. He talks about what it means to serve with integrity, how he approaches community safety, and why his background makes him uniquely equipped to lead during this moment of change. It is not just about badges or titles. It is about accountability, accessibility, and a real connection to the people. Sheriff Cogen shares how he is rethinking the role of law enforcement in a city that is rebuilding trust, neighborhood by neighborhood. Recorded in a space rich with historical and cultural significance, this conversation is grounded, thoughtful, and forward-looking. Tune in for a meaningful dialogue on leadership, legacy, and what justice can look like when it is rooted in community.

He's Holy & I'm Knott, Baltimore Public Market Tour 2025 - Avenue Market

In this special live-recorded episode, Rev and I take you to the heart of West Baltimore at Avenue Market, a historic space pulsing with possibility. Once a staple of Pennsylvania Avenue’s golden era, the market is now poised for a powerful comeback, and we were there to capture the voices leading that charge. Set against the backdrop of a changing city, this conversation explores how markets like Avenue are being reimagined not just as places to shop, but as platforms for health, equity, and local power. We’re joined once again by Abigail Lammel, Communications Manager for Baltimore Public Markets, and David Tyson, Operations Manager, who give us an insider’s view into how public infrastructure and intentional design can lay the groundwork for neighborhood transformation. Their work behind the scenes is shaping not just markets, but futures. Then we dive deep with Bolon Zahir Xi-Amaru, Director of Health and Food Justice at No Boundaries Coalition, a grassroots organization at the forefront of equity work in Central West Baltimore. Bolon brings truth and urgency, challenging us to think bigger about what public markets can be: sites of healing, hubs of resistance, and cornerstones of economic justice. Recorded live at Avenue Market, this episode is full of energy, candor, and vision. You’ll hear about the bold plans underway, the challenges of restoring trust, and the collective hope of turning a once-dormant market into a thriving community anchor. This isn’t just about buildings. It’s about agency. It’s about what happens when neighbors, nonprofits, and city leaders come to the same table. Avenue Market is rising, and the people are leading the way.
