The Head Smart podcast from Kate Guest is all about helping people to help themselves by having
the right mindset and creating transformational change.
Kate shares the interesting knowledge and research she’s learned along the way on her own
personal journey, and, how she uses this, to help the people she works with now.
With simple head hacks to change how you think and feel, research based information from the
world of neuroscience, interviews with peers from a variety of backgrounds and essentially a lot of
laughter : a key ingredient to a positive mindset.
In this episode of the Head Smart podcast, I talk to Vic Williams, a business coach, speaker and author. Vic works with dyslexic and ADHD entrepreneurs and business owners helping them to rethink their business. He is also a LinkedIn trainer.
We talk about Vic’s upcoming books, one of which I am particularly keen to read as it heralds and applauds the back stories of normal everyday people and the amazing things they have gone through and go on to achieve. Vic also has an interesting story of his own.
You can find Vic on LinkedIn or contact him by visiting audacious tribe.net (http://tribe.net/)

Ramblings of Rambler
In this episode of the head smart podcast I decided to go on a ramble and literally ramble, to share my thoughts in the moment. I recorded it using the rode mic so that I could be out walking in an ‘outside office’ of nature with my dogs on our first camping trip of the year.
The sound quality dips in a few places due to this being my first attempt (note to self - walk backwards if it’s windy!), however, you will find nuggets of useful information, so hang on in there.
Take a deep breath and by the time you have slowly breathed out, the odd iffy sentence will have passed and you can enjoy listening.
I mention my friend and peer Paola Royal whose book I am currently reading and highly recommend the title of which is ‘The Inner Game of Food and Diet - taking the struggle out of weight loss’. Although the title refers to weight loss, you can transpose the information to all areas of life. Available on Amazon.
Also, a shout out to Twelve Oaks farm holiday park at Teigngrace, Devon for a fantastic experience for our first camping trip of the year.

Imposter Syndrome
In this episode of the Head Smart podcast I'm talking about Imposter Syndrome and challenging anyone who thinks they have it, to think differently. Is it just a lack of confidence? Are there attributes to people who feel they have this? New research suggests they do. I also talk about why labels are for tins and not people (this phrase I must attribute to the lovely Paola Royal). And finally, the Dunning Kruger effect, the other side of the coin. Do you know someone who genuinely believes they are way more capable than is actually the case? Is this helpful to them and you? Can it even be dangerous? If you have any thoughts or experiences that you would like to share, please contact me.

Neil Mills
In this episode of the head smart podcast, I’m talking to Neil Mills, a former gangland member drug dealer and now an entrepreneurial businessman, coach, husband and father of five.
We hear how Neil went from early life in a home where drugs, alcohol and violence were the norm to helping others like him to get a start in life and move away from drugs. A very compassionate person with a ‘can do’ attitude, fuelled by doing exactly what people say he can’t, Neil’s determination and motivation are palpable.
Later in the year I’ll be speaking to Neil again to find out how his charity work and projects are going and hear even more details about his back story. Always gritty and always with so many resources as a result.

Disc
In this episode, I talk about how one man gave us Wonder Woman, the polygraph lie detector and DISC psychometric personality profiling. It involves (in my opinion) a wonderful love story and how three people influenced so much in the early part of the 20th century that is still very much with us today.

Ashley Leeds
In this episode of the Head Smart podcast, I talk to Ashley Leeds who I met during lockdown when everything was on zoom.
Ashley has a very emotional and inspiring story to tell and it still makes me tear up now, however, there is a happy ending.
Ashley's story loops back to my first podcast episode when I spoke about whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, either way you're right.
There's also a quick appearance from Frank Spencer, Michael Crawford's 1970's alter ego, appearing as Joesph in an alternative nativity play.

Cause and Effect
In this episode of the Head Smart podcast, I talk about Cause and Effect. Are you at cause or do you feel at the mercy of everything and everyone around you? Are you a pot driller or a pot filler. Do you drain people or uplift them? And how do you see things? What is your map of the world? Is it different from everyone else's, and finally, how are you influenced by what others say to you?

Duncan Attwood
In this episode of the Head Smart podcast, I talk to Duncan Attwood, a friend and colleague who I worked with during lockdown delivering health webinars about the mind and body and how one affects the other.
Duncan busts the myths about 10,000 steps a day and the BMI (body mass index).
He also advises us about safety at home when exercising, how slow and safe is the way to go, how we lose strength with age and how strength training can positively impact our health with long term conditions such as Diabetes.
