A Poem for Bella
For Bella, and anyone who’s grieving or grieved their soul cat.
I wrote this poem for my soul cat, Bella, who was the love of my life and my whole world. I lost her last Wednesday. This audio is from me reading the poem to her the day I took her to the vet. It’s a raw recording and you can hear the pain in my voice but it’s probably one of the most meaningful things I could ever post. And it doesn’t feel right to “perform” the poem when I have a more genuine audio.
Bella wasn’t too pleased with the poem, but she tolerated it… until she left a glowing review by walking away.
The cover photo is of me and and her from earlier this year. She almost always slept on my pillow with me, putting her face on mine, her head on my forehead, or her paw on my face—or on my mouth to push me away or get me to be quiet. She was so sassy, and so sweet. She was my person and I was hers.

An Elegy for My Therapist
Mid-May, I lost my therapist since 2019 to a car crash. Heartbreaking doesn’t begin to describe the pain and it still doesn’t feel real most days. I’ve searched for writings on this kind of loss and grief, but few exist. So I want to put some of my mine out into the world for anyone who might be experiencing something similiar.
