When Family Relationships Break Down
What happens when hurt, anger and unresolved conflict create distance between the people we love most? In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I share my own experience with family estrangement, the pattern of getting angry and walking away, and the painful realization of how much time and energy can be lost. I also reflect on one of my greatest fears—that my own children would repeat the same pattern—and the hope I’ve found in watching them get angry, hurt one another, and still find their way back. As we get older, time feels more precious. This episode is about communicating our hurt, resolving what we can, breaking old family patterns, and choosing more love, laughter and memories instead of walking away. I’ll also leave you with five reflection questions to help you look at the family patterns you may still be carrying. 🎧 Follow Healing Out Loud on your favourite podcast platform and share this episode with someone who may need to hear it.

The Father Wound: When Love and Loss Shape Your Life
The relationship we have with our father can shape far more than we realize. Whether your father was absent, emotionally unavailable, critical, or someone you deeply loved but also experienced pain with, those early experiences can quietly influence your self-worth, relationships, confidence, and the way you move through life. In this deeply personal episode of Healing Out Loud, I share my own journey—from looking up to my dad as my hero, to experiencing the heartbreak of family separation, feeling abandoned after he remarried, eight years of estrangement, and ultimately finding forgiveness and peace before he passed away. This episode isn't about blaming fathers. It's about understanding how our experiences shape us, recognizing the wounds we may still carry, and discovering that healing is possible. What messages did you receive from your father about your worth? Were there things you longed to hear that were never spoken? How has your relationship with your father influenced your relationships today? There are no right or wrong answers—only an opportunity to become more aware of the patterns that may still be influencing your life. If today's episode resonated with you, you may also find support through my books, Heal the Pain and Breaking the Chains, along with my self-paced course, Why You Still Feel Stuck, designed to help you better understand your emotional patterns, rebuild self-trust, and move forward with greater confidence. The Mother Wound: The Hurt I Carried for Years
In this deeply personal episode of Healing Out Loud, I share my own experience with the mother wound and explore how our earliest relationship with our mother can shape the way we see ourselves, love others, and move through life. At fourteen, my world changed when my mother left our family. That experience left me carrying feelings of abandonment, shame, and grief that quietly influenced my relationships, marriages, parenting, and struggles with an eating disorder for many years. Together, we'll explore what the mother wound is, how it can show up in adulthood, and why understanding our past isn't about placing blame—it's about finding the awareness needed to heal. Whether your mother was absent, emotionally unavailable, or simply unable to meet your emotional needs, I hope this conversation reminds you that you are not alone, your feelings are valid, and healing is possible. What did you need from your mother that you didn't receive? How has that shaped the way you see yourself today? In what ways has the mother wound shown up in your relationships? Is there a younger version of yourself still longing to be seen, comforted, or chosen? What is one small act of compassion you can offer yourself this week? Remember... healing doesn't erase your story. It helps you rewrite the chapters that come next.

Self-Sabotage — Why Do We Get in Our Own Way?
Season 1: Understanding the Pain Have you ever found yourself wondering… “Why do I keep repeating the same patterns, even when I know they’re hurting me?” Self-sabotage isn’t a sign of weakness. More often, it’s a survival strategy we developed to protect ourselves from pain, rejection, disappointment, or abandonment. In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I share my own journey through an eating disorder, running from relationships to avoid being hurt, and the emotional patterns that kept me stuck for years. Together, we’ll explore why we sometimes push away the very things we long for, how fear quietly influences our choices, and why healing begins with understanding ourselves instead of criticizing ourselves. If you’ve ever felt like you’re standing in your own way, this conversation is for you. ✨ Reflection Questions As you reflect on today’s episode, consider these questions: • Where might self-sabotage be showing up in your life today? • What fear could be influencing the choices you’re making? • What is one small step you can take to respond with self-compassion instead of self-criticism? There are no right or wrong answers. Simply notice what comes up with curiosity and compassion. Betrayal — When the People You Love Hurt You
Season 1: Understanding the Pain Have you ever been deeply hurt by someone you trusted? Betrayal has a way of shaking our sense of safety. Whether it’s a parent who leaves, a partner who breaks their promises, a family member who turns away, or a friend who lets us down, the pain often reaches far beyond the moment itself. In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I share some of the deepest betrayals I’ve experienced—from my mother’s abandonment and my father’s absence, to broken promises, failed relationships, and the heartbreak of trusting people who couldn’t be there when I needed them most. Together, we’ll explore how betrayal affects our self-worth, why it can leave us questioning ourselves instead of the person who hurt us, and how healing begins when we stop carrying responsibility for someone else’s choices. If you’ve ever struggled to trust again after being deeply hurt, this conversation is for you. ✨ Reflection Questions As you reflect on today’s episode, consider these questions: • Is there a betrayal you’ve been carrying that still deserves your compassion and attention? • How has betrayal influenced the way you trust yourself or others today? • What is one step you can take toward healing—not because what happened was okay, but because you deserve peace? Is Your Past Still Running Your Life? Breaking Free from Childhood Pattern
Season 1: Understanding the Pain Have you ever reacted to something and wondered… “Why did that affect me so deeply?” Sometimes our strongest emotional reactions aren’t just about what’s happening today—they’re connected to experiences we’ve carried for years. Many of us unknowingly continue living from survival patterns we developed in childhood. We become people-pleasers, fear rejection, avoid conflict, struggle with criticism, or feel like we’re never good enough. Although these patterns once helped us cope, they can quietly shape our relationships, decisions, and self-worth long into adulthood. In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I share how my own childhood experiences—including parental abandonment, unhealthy relationships, and years spent searching for love and acceptance in the wrong places—influenced the choices I made and the emotional patterns I carried for years. Together, we’ll explore how unresolved wounds continue to shape our present and how awareness is the first step toward breaking free. If you’ve ever felt like your past is still influencing your present, this conversation is for you. ✨ Reflection Questions As you reflect on today’s episode, consider these questions: • Are there situations that trigger emotional reactions that seem stronger than the situation itself? • What childhood experiences may still be influencing the way you see yourself or relate to others? • What is one emotional pattern you’re ready to understand with greater compassion instead of self-judgment? There are no right or wrong answers. Simply notice what comes up with curiosity and compassion. Healing begins with awareness. 🌿 Continue Your Healing Journey If today’s conversation resonated with you and you’d like additional support, I’ve created resources to help you continue your healing journey. 📚 Books: Heal the Pain and Breaking the Chains are available on Amazon. 💛 Self-Paced Course: Why You Still Feel Stuck is designed to help you better understand your emotional patterns, rebuild self-trust, create healthier boundaries, and move forward with greater confidence through gentle lessons, guided reflection, and practical tools. Walking on Eggshells: Why We Learn to Silence Ourselves
Season 1: Understanding the Pain Have you ever found yourself carefully choosing your words because you were afraid of someone’s reaction? Maybe you learned to read the room before you spoke. Maybe you became the peacemaker, avoided conflict, or found yourself apologizing even when you hadn’t done anything wrong. For many of us, walking on eggshells begins in childhood. It becomes a survival strategy that quietly follows us into adulthood, shaping our relationships, our confidence, and the way we see ourselves. In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I share my own experience of growing up with explosive reactions, learning to anticipate moods, and living with the fear of saying or doing the wrong thing. Together, we’ll explore why these patterns develop, how they continue to affect our lives, and what it means to begin finding our voice again. If you’ve ever felt like you had to shrink yourself to keep the peace, this conversation is for you. ✨ Reflection Questions As you reflect on today’s episode, consider these questions: • Have you ever found yourself changing what you say or do because you were afraid of someone’s reaction? • Where did you first learn that it felt safer to stay quiet than to speak your truth? • What is one small way you can begin honouring your voice with kindness and courage? There are no right or wrong answers. Simply notice what comes up with curiosity and compassion. Healing begins with awareness. The Cost of Being the Strong One: When Strength Becomes Survival
Season 1: Understanding the Pain Have you always been the one everyone could count on? The one who held everything together, supported everyone else, and kept going—even when you were falling apart inside? For many of us, being “the strong one” wasn’t a choice. It became a role we learned early in life. We became caregivers, peacemakers, problem-solvers, and protectors, often believing our own needs had to come last. In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I share my own journey of carrying the weight of responsibility through parental abandonment, difficult relationships, single motherhood, and years of believing I had to handle everything on my own. Together, we’ll explore the hidden cost of always being strong, why asking for help can feel so uncomfortable, and how healing begins when we give ourselves permission to acknowledge our own needs with compassion. If you’ve ever felt exhausted from carrying the weight of everyone else, this conversation is for you. ✨ Reflection Questions As you reflect on today’s episode, consider these questions: • When did you first learn that you had to be the strong one? • How has always being strong affected your emotional well-being and your relationships? • What is one small way you can begin showing yourself the same compassion you so freely offer to others?
