Healing and Still Petty - When Protecting Your Feelings Gets a Little… Petty
Episode 16: Healing and Still Petty When Protecting Your Feelings Gets a Little… Petty What happens when you’re healing, growing, becoming more self-aware… and still occasionally have the thought? In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I’m talking about those moments when protecting our feelings starts looking a little like pettiness—ignoring the call, getting quiet, keeping an unspoken tally, or saying “I’m fine” when we are definitely not fine. Because healing doesn’t require emotional perfection. Sometimes the real growth is recognizing what’s underneath our reactions and deciding what we want to do next. We’ll talk about the difference between boundaries and punishment, the feelings underneath protective behaviors, and learning to notice our reactions without shaming ourselves for having them. This Week’s Reflection What am I trying to protect right now—and is the way I’m protecting myself actually taking care of me? Petty can be in the group chat. She just can’t be running the damn thing. Thank you for being part of the Healing Out Loud journey. Join the Healing in Motion community on Facebook for continued conversations, encouragement, and support as we continue healing together—one honest conversation at a time. Because we are not healing alone. We are not healing silently. And we’re certainly not healing perfectly. We’re simply healing out loud. Speak it. Heal it. Live it… Out Loud.

Who Are You When Nobody Needs Anything From You? Rediscovering yourself beyond the roles you carry
Episode 15: Who Are You When Nobody Needs Anything From You? Rediscovering Yourself Beyond the Roles You Carry Who are you when nobody needs anything from you? Not the employee. The mother. The partner. The friend. The caregiver. The strong one. The person everybody knows they can depend on. Just you. In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I sit with a question that turned out to be much harder to answer than I expected. After years of working, loving, supporting, surviving, and showing up for other people, I realized I wasn’t completely sure what it meant to actively participate in my own life. We’re talking about self-discovery beyond our wounds—learning what we enjoy now, what we’ve outgrown, what we're curious about, and who we might be becoming. Because maybe you haven't lost yourself. Maybe there are simply parts of you that haven't had enough room to introduce themselves yet. In this episode, we explore: The difference between being alive and participating in your own life Rediscovering yourself beyond the roles you carry Why “I don't know what I want” can be an invitation rather than a failure Giving yourself permission to explore, play, create, travel, rest, and try something new Choosing your life while still loving and supporting the people in it Reflection: Who am I when nobody needs anything from me—and what is one thing I'd like to discover about myself now? Join the Healing in Motion community on Facebook for continued conversations, encouragement, and support as we continue healing together—one honest conversation at a time. Because we are not healing alone. We are not healing silently. And we're certainly not healing perfectly. We're simply healing out loud. Speak it. Heal it. Live it… Out Loud. Peace, Love, and Good Vibes

Let Healing Feel Good. - Relearning Joy, Taking Bold Action & Actually Living Your Life
Let Healing Feel Good Relearning Joy, Taking Bold Action & Actually Living Your Life What if healing didn’t always have to feel like work? Sometimes we become so focused on processing, reflecting, regulating, and becoming “better” that we forget to actually live. In this episode, we’re talking about making room for joy while life is still life-ing—letting ordinary good moments count, doing things simply because we enjoy them, and choosing to participate in our lives even when everything isn’t healed, settled, or perfect. Because you don’t have to wait until everything stops hurting before you allow something to feel good. This week’s invitation: What’s one thing you can do simply because it makes you feel alive? You can be healing and living at the same time. Speak it. Heal it. Live it… Out Loud. __________________ Thank you for being part of the Healing Out Loud journey. Join the Healing in Motion community on Facebook for continued conversations, encouragement, and support as we continue healing together—one honest conversation at a time. Stop Trying to Outrun Your Healing — Why Running Away Doesn’t Heal What We’re Carrying
Stop Trying to Outrun Your Healing Why Running Away Doesn’t Heal What We’re Carrying Sometimes we run away from healing because what we’re carrying feels too heavy. Other times, once we finally recognize what needs our attention, we try to rush through the process—fixing, changing, confronting, and trying to become “healed” as quickly as possible. But healing isn’t a race. In this episode of Healing Out Loud, we’re talking about the difference between taking a much-needed break and avoiding what is still waiting for us when we return. We also explore what happens when we compare our healing to someone else’s and begin wondering why we’re not further along. Because the truth is: Their healing was never supposed to become the measuring stick for yours. Maybe healing isn’t about running away—or racing toward some perfect healed version of ourselves. Maybe it’s about staying with ourselves long enough to heal at the pace healing requires. In This Episode Rest vs. avoidance The ways we “run” without going anywhere Why awareness can make us want to fix everything at once Comparing our healing journey to others Choosing one soul-rooted action from where we are Reflection What have you been trying to outrun? Are you running away from something that needs your attention—or trying to rush through your healing because you think you should be further along? If you need a moment to pause and reconnect after this conversation, listen to Rooted in Healing Practice: Returning to Yourself. Speak it. Heal it. Live it… Out Loud.

Rooted in Healing Practice- Returning to Yourself
Rooted in Healing Practice Returning to Yourself A Closing Practice for The Pattern Series Episode Description Over the past four episodes, we’ve explored The Pattern Series—recognizing old patterns, understanding where they came from, discovering the power of the pause, and learning that healing often begins one choice at a time. But healing doesn’t end when the conversation does. It continues in the way we breathe, the way we move, the way we speak to ourselves, and the choices we make when life gets loud. This is the very first Rooted in Healing Practice—a new companion series designed to help you move from understanding your healing to living it. In this gentle guided practice, you’ll be invited to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and remember one simple truth: You know the way back. ⸻ In This Practice 🌿 A gentle grounding breath 🤍 A moment to notice what is true today 🌱 Reflection on what is yours to carry ✨ A Rooted in Healing Declaration 🕊 A closing blessing to carry with you throughout the week ⸻ Reflection Ask yourself: * What feels true for me today? * What part of me needs kindness instead of fixing? * What is one rooted choice I can make today? ⸻ Closing Thought Healing isn’t something we simply understand. It’s something we practice. Whenever life pulls you away from yourself… may you remember… you know the way back

Choosing Differently: One Choice at a Time.
Episode 12: Choosing Differently The Pattern Series – Part Four Episode Description After we recognize the pattern, understand where it came from, and learn the power of the pause, one question remains: Now what? In this episode, we’re talking about what it really means to choose differently—not by changing your entire life overnight, but by interrupting old patterns one choice at a time. We’ll also explore something that isn’t talked about enough in healing: the highs and the lows. The excitement of breakthrough… and the discouragement that sometimes follows when the old pattern shows up again. If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re failing because you’re still struggling, this conversation is for you. In This Episode * Why awareness can feel both empowering and overwhelming * The difference between urgency and alignment * How to stop treating every realization like an emergency * Why healing includes both highs and lows * How one small choice can begin to interrupt an old pattern Signature Reflection You don’t break a pattern all at once. You interrupt it one choice at a time. Gentle Practice This week, when you notice an old pattern rising, pause and ask yourself: * Is this mine to carry? * Is this coming from peace or panic? * What is one different choice I can make right now? Journal Prompt Where in your life are you being invited to choose one aligned action instead of ten anxious ones? —————- Thank you for being part of the Healing Out Loud journey. The Power of the Pause: Where Healing Catches Up to Awareness
Episode 11: The Power of the Pause: Where Healing Catches Up to Awareness In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I’m continuing The Pattern Series with a conversation about the pause — that quiet, uncomfortable, powerful space between the trigger and the response, the old pattern and the new choice. After a rough and overwhelming week, I found myself living the very lesson this episode is about. I had to slow down. I had to listen to my body. I had to stop pushing myself just because I felt behind. This episode is a reminder that pausing is not quitting. It is not weakness. It is not avoidance. Sometimes the pause is the place where we finally get enough space to hear ourselves clearly. I’m sharing how the pause can help us move from reacting out of fear to choosing from a place of peace, awareness, and self-trust. Healing does not always happen in the big breakthrough. Sometimes it happens in the breath before the next choice. In this episode, I reflect on: * Why old patterns often rush us into reacting * How awareness needs space before it can become change * Why the pause can feel uncomfortable but still be sacred * The difference between reacting from fear and choosing from peace * How healing can begin with one small intentional pause Signature Reflection: The pause is where healing catches up to awareness. Journal Prompt: Where in my life could one intentional pause create room for a different choice? Gentle Practice for the Week: This week, don’t try to fix everything. Just notice one pause. One deep breath before you answer. One quiet moment before you react. One chance to ask yourself: What would love choose here instead of fear? Because we are not healing alone. We are not healing silently. And we are certainly not healing perfectly. We’re simply Healing Out Loud.

When Survival Becomes Identity
Episode 10: When Survival Becomes Identity This episode introduces a new Healing Out Loud philosophy: Survival Whispers—the quiet messages we've carried for years without realizing they were once trying to protect us. There are moments in life when we look at ourselves and think, "That's just who I am." But what if some of the traits we've accepted as our personality are actually survival strategies we learned along the way? In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I explore how childhoodexperiences, painful relationships, and life's challenges can quietly shape the way we see ourselves, the way we love, and the way we move through the world. Together, we'll unpack the difference between who we truly are and who we became in order to survive. We'll explore the idea of Survival Whispers—the quiet messages that once protected us—and how healing gently invites us to listen for a new voice. This isn't about blaming our past or judging ourselves for the ways we've coped. It's about meeting ourselves with compassion, understanding our patterns, and realizingthat awareness gives us the opportunity to choose differently. In this episode, we'll explore: • How survival strategies can become part of our identity • The difference between survival and healing • Why curiosity is more powerful than self-judgment • What it means to honor your survival without remaining in survival mode • How healing begins when awareness creates space for new choices Reflection As you move through this week, ask yourself: What part of myself have I spent years trying to fix... that may have simply been trying to protect me? Notice what comes up with curiosity instead of judgment. Remember... "Healing begins the moment curiosity becomes louderthan judgment." Thank you for being part of the Healing Out Loud journey. Recognizing the Pattern
In this episode of Healing Out Loud, we begin a brand-new collection exploring the patterns that quietly shape our lives. Have you ever looked back and wondered: Why does this keep happening? Different people. Different jobs. Different relationships. Different seasons of life. Yet somehow the feeling stays the same. Together, we'll explore what patterns really are, how they develop, and why they often go unnoticed for years. We'll look at recurring responses, limiting beliefs, and emotional habits that can influence our choices without us even realizing it. This episode isn't about blame or judgment. It's about awareness. Because patterns aren't evidence that you've failed. They're information. They're clues. They're invitations to deeper understanding. You'll discover: ✨ What patterns actually are ✨ How patterns can be learned through experience andobservation ✨ Why patterns often feel like personality ✨ The difference between self-judgment and self-awareness ✨ How awareness creates the opportunity for change If you've ever felt like different situations somehow lead to the same emotional outcome, this episode may help you see things from a new perspective. Healing Out Loud Reflection: Is there an area of your life where the circumstances keep changing, but the feeling stays the same? If so, what pattern might be asking for your attention? The Becoming
EPISODE 8 The Becoming In this episode of Healing Out Loud, Dawn reflects on the journey so far and the ongoing process of becoming who we are meant to be. After exploring fear, self-doubt, protecting our pain, making ourselves small, letting go, starting over, finding our voice, and trusting ourselves again, this conversation brings those lessons together in a powerful reflection on growth, healing, and self-discovery. Because becoming isn't a destination. It's a process. It's choosing yourself again and again. It's learning from the setbacks, celebrating the breakthroughs, and continuing forward even when the path feels uncertain. Through personal reflection and encouragement, Dawn invites listeners to embrace where they are, honor how far they've come, and trust who they are becoming. Trusting Yourself Again
Trusting Yourself Again In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I explore what it means to rebuild trust with yourself after life experiences that left you questioning your voice, your decisions, and your worth. Through personal reflection, I share how self-trust can be impacted by childhood experiences, bullying, financial struggles, setbacks, difficult relationships, and moments when life seemed uncertain. I also offer gentle encouragement for beginning the journey back to yourself. Trusting yourself again doesn’t happen overnight. It happens one choice, one step, and one act of courage at a time. I Am Afraid of This Mic
EPISODE 6 I Am Afraid of This Mic In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I am sharing a deeply personal poem titled I Am Afraid of This Mic and it reflects on the fear, vulnerability, and courage that often accompany using your voice. For many of us, the fear isn't really about speaking. It's about being seen. Being heard. Being judged. Being misunderstood. Yet healing often asks us to move forward despite those fears. This episode is an invitation to honor your voice, embrace vulnerability, and remember that courage isn't the absence of fear—it's choosing to show up anyway. If you've ever felt afraid to speak your truth, share your story, or take up space, this episode is for you. Letting Go of the Past
In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I reflect on the emotional weight of holding on — to pain, fear, old versions of ourselves, relationships, expectations, and survival patterns that no longer serve us. Letting go is rarely easy. Sometimes we hold onto what hurts because it feels familiar. But healing often begins the moment we create space for something different. This episode is a gentle reminder that releasing does not mean you failed. It means you’re making room to grow.
