About Healing Starts Here

Welcome to Healing Starts Here — the podcast where homeopathy meets energy healing. Hosts D and Mary are both trained homeopaths with a shared passion for exploring the full spectrum of natural healing modalities. But they noticed something: for too long, there's been a hard line between homeopaths and energy healers, even though both are working toward the same goal. This podcast bridges that gap. From Reiki and acupuncture to plant medicine, hypnotherapy, and trauma work, Dee and Mary explore how energy healing is not something foreign — it's inherently human. Each episode brings open, unscripted conversations with practitioners, guests, and each other, guided by curiosity rather than rules. Because healing doesn't start with a single modality. It starts with exploration. It starts with conversation. It starts with a willingness to look at things differently. Healing Starts Here.

Episode 15: Karmic Astrology & Soul Healing with Sara Elise

In this eye-opening episode, host Dee Nicole sits down with Sara Elise, an incredibly gifted therapeutic astrologer. Sara shares her wild journey from being a staunch atheist to experiencing a profound spiritual awakening at age 21. If you have ever felt like you do not quite fit into the "normal" world, this heartfelt conversation is for you! Healing vs. Wholeing Have you ever heard of "wholeing"? Sara introduces this beautiful concept, explaining that true growth requires two steps. First, we must dive into our deep, human wounds and emotional baggage—this is the healing process. But simultaneously, we must rise up to connect with the wisdom of our higher selves. Bringing those two pieces together is what creates true wholeness. The Power of Karmic Astrology Astrology is so much more than just the sun sign horoscope you read in a magazine. Sara practices karmic astrology, which views your birth chart as a map of your soul. She explains how reading your chart uncovers the past experiences you brought into this life, your current evolutionary goals, and the tension between the two. Understanding your unique "hero's journey" gives you the profound objectivity needed to finally embrace your personal story. Authenticity in a Digital Age Dee and Sara also touch on what it means to stay authentic in an increasingly digital world. Sara passionately reminds us that each person is a divine spark. While AI can regurgitate existing information, it will never be able to replicate the unique, creative vibration of your soul. Now more than ever, learning about your astrological blueprint can give you the permission you need to embrace your brilliant, irreplaceable individuality. Episode 14: Top Manifestation Techniques with Mary Greensmith & Dee Nicole

Welcome back! Today, hosts Dee Nicole and Mary Greensmith dive into the practical world of calling in your desires. Mary's Natural Gift Mary kicks off the episode by sharing her incredible journey. Despite leaving school at sixteen without a clear career path, she naturally brought her biggest desires to life. By age 21, she successfully manifested a farm with no mortgage, and later, she even conquered her fear of boats to sail the Mediterranean! Manifesting Beyond the Goal One of the most powerful manifestation techniques discussed is the concept of manifesting beyond your goal. Mary explains that if you desire a house but secretly fear losing it, you are actively manifesting both outcomes. To succeed, you must visualize yourself after the goal is achieved, feeling completely safe, happy, and smiling. Stay Open to the Universe Dee shares a hilarious story about asking the universe for a call from a man named John, only for a completely different John to call her out of the blue! She uses this to highlight how being too specific can cause us to reject wonderful opportunities. If the cosmic delivery service brings your gift in a circle, do not turn it away just because you asked for a square. Overcoming Hidden Fears The hosts wrap up by exploring how fear blocks our blessings. If you desire a busy healing practice but secretly fear the overwhelm, your mind will block the success. Instead, focus on the feeling of being completely supported. Episode 13: Healing Through Somatic Movement

In today's episode, host Dee Nicole is joined by former professional dancer and healing artist Kristen Mangione. Together, they dive into the transformative power of somatic movement and how simply tuning into our bodies can unlock profound emotional and energetic healing. If you spend too much time sitting at a desk or feeling disconnected from yourself, this conversation is exactly what you need! Energy is Movement Drawing from Traditional Chinese Medicine, Kristen explains a simple truth: energy is movement. When energy stagnates, disease or discomfort often follows. By embracing movement and dance, we can actively shift and harmonize our energy. Beyond just the physical benefits, movement releases essential feel-good chemicals like serotonin and dopamine, offering a powerful, natural boost to our mental health and acting as a coping strategy for depression. The Body Tells the Truth We can easily trick our minds, but our bodies always hold the truth. Kristen shares how modern distractions—from endless scrolling to binge-watching—keep us completely disconnected from what we truly feel. By engaging in mindful, intentional movement, we bypass the ego and tap into our deeper, subconscious truths. Discovering Dance Alchemya Kristen opens up about her personal journey of experiencing intense panic attacks while performing professionally. A spontaneous moment of deep presence on stage shifted her entire perspective, bringing her back to a joyful "beginner's mind." This inspired her to create Dance Alchemya, a safe, non-judgmental practice where participants often move with their eyes closed. This allows everyone—regardless of their dance experience—to explore their inner world without fear of judgment. Reconnecting With Your Body Are you feeling completely disconnected from your physical self? You are not alone! For anyone struggling with the effects of a sedentary lifestyle, Kristen recommends starting small. Pick a song that holds deep personal meaning and simply allow your body to move to it. Dee echoes this beautifully, championing the "5-minute dance party" as a perfect daily reset. "Your body is your greatest guide. It's your North Star. Honor that." – Kristen Mangione Remember, your biology and beliefs are entirely malleable. Trauma is not written in stone, and true healing is always within your reach. Episode 12: Clairvoyance & How to Trust Your Gut

In today's fascinating episode of Healing Starts Here, hosts Dee Nicole and Mary Greensmith dive into the world of the "sixth sense"—and beyond! Have you ever walked into a room and just felt the energy? Or known exactly who was calling before you picked up the phone? Dee and Mary break down the "Clair" senses, explaining how we all have natural, energetic abilities that match our physical ones. If you're ready to stop talking yourself out of your own intuition, this conversation is for you! Beyond the Five Senses While we were all taught about our five basic senses in school, Dee explains that we have energetic senses to match them. These are commonly known in the healing community as the "Clairs": Clairvoyance (Clear Seeing): Receiving visual energetic information. Rather than seeing a ghost in the room, it usually appears in your mind's eye, much like picturing a pink elephant. Clairsentience (Clear Feeling): Walking into a space and instantly feeling the emotional charge or energy left behind. Clairaudience (Clear Hearing): Hearing an inner voice or message that guides you. Claircognizance (Clear Knowing): Suddenly knowing a fact or a truth without any logical explanation of how you acquired that information. Clairtangency, Clairalience, and Clairgustance: Receiving energetic information through touch, smell, or taste. Intuition vs. Psychic Abilities It is easy to get overwhelmed by terms like "psychic," but Dee offers a beautiful, grounding distinction. Your intuition is your internal GPS—it is information meant specifically for you to help you navigate your life safely and aligned with your soul. A psychic ability is simply taking that same intuitive sense and turning it outward to read the energy of the world and other people. How to Play and Practice Mary asks the question we are all wondering: How do we actually get better at this? Dee's biggest piece of advice is to simply play with it! Keep a nightly journal: Take five minutes at the end of the day to write down what energetic information you received. Reflect on your reactions: When you met someone new, did you notice their appearance first, the sound of their voice, or how they made you feel? Honor your truth: When you get a gut feeling to take a different route home, listen to it! The more you acknowledge your energetic senses without letting your rational mind talk you out of them, the stronger they will become. Episode 11: Animal Communication, Trusting Your Intuition & The Heart of Healing

In today's beautiful episode, host Dee Nicole is joined by the wonderful Anita Panayiotis, a gifted energy healer and animal communicator. Together, they share an incredibly moving conversation about trusting your inner voice, the true purpose of healing, and the deep, unspoken bond we share with the animal kingdom. If you have ever felt a special connection to a pet, this episode will warm your heart! A Personal Healing Journey Anita takes us back over 20 years to when she was a busy young mother who received a devastating breast cancer diagnosis. Despite a doctor initially dismissing her concerns because of her age, Anita and her mother trusted their intuition. A friend later invited her to a healing session, and with an open mind of "what have I got to lose?", Anita experienced a profound sense of peace. That single turning point ultimately inspired her to learn how to heal others. Does Healing Ever Fail? Dee and Anita tackle a heavy but beautiful question: does healing ever fail? They beautifully explain the difference between curing a physical illness and healing the soul. Even when an illness isn't physically cured, energy healing never fails. Sometimes, the most profound healing happens by helping a person or an animal transition peacefully at the end of their life. The Magic of Animal Communication Anita's lifelong passion for animals naturally merged with her healing gifts. She explains how animal communication works by tuning into shared energetic frequencies. Because the emotional vibration of "fear" is the exact same frequency whether experienced by a human or a dog, Anita can tap into what an animal is feeling. From helping traumatized rescue dogs forgive their pasts to locating a missing pet lizard named Leo by sensing his surroundings, Anita proves just how unconditionally loving animals truly are. Trusting Your Intuition How do you know if a feeling is your true intuition or just your imagination? Anita explains that intuition comes from the gut—a sudden "knowing" or short snippet of information. Imagination, on the other hand, comes from our busy "monkey minds" trying to rationalize and overthink. For beginners looking to connect with their intuition, Anita highly recommends picking up a simple pendulum to practice tuning into your higher consciousness. At the end of the day, healing doesn't have to be complicated. As Anita reminds us, it can be as simple as a loving hug or a warm smile! Episode 10: Understanding Osteopathy & Fascia Trauma with John Corcoran

In this episode, Dee Nicole welcomes John Corcoran for a thoughtful conversation about healing, the body, trauma, fascia, and the connection between our physical, mental and energetic experiences. From Physical Therapy to Osteopathic Practice John shares how his journey began in physical therapy before leading him into osteopathic manual practice. He explains how this approach looks at the body as a whole rather than treating each system as something separate. For John, the body has a natural ability to regulate and heal itself, and the goal is to understand what may be getting in the way of that process. Looking Beyond the Physical Body The conversation explores the relationship between the physical body, mind and energy. John explains why he does not see these areas as separate. He also reflects on how ideas that were once considered unusual are becoming easier to discuss as our understanding continues to develop. How Trauma Affects the Body A major part of the conversation is the impact of trauma and life stress on the body. John discusses how past experiences can continue to influence us and why trauma can sometimes become a reason for change and growth. At the same time, he stresses that trauma should never be dismissed as something that is simply "good" or beneficial. Each person's experience is different. The Role of Fascia John shares how his understanding of fascia has changed throughout his career. Rather than seeing it as simply connective tissue that holds things together, he describes fascia as an important part of how the body responds and adapts to what we experience. He discusses its relationship with sensation, posture, balance and the way trauma may be expressed physically. Healing Is Not Linear The episode closes with an important reminder: healing does not follow a straight line. John explains that progress can include moments of clarity as well as times when old patterns return. For him, healing means continuing to move forward, finding motivation and peace, and not allowing past experiences to keep us stuck. Episode 9: Everyday Energy Protection and Grounding Tips

Have you ever wondered why spending time with certain people leaves you feeling completely drained, while others make you feel energized and uplifted? Today, hosts Dee Nicole and Mary Greensmith dive into the fascinating world of human energy to answer exactly that. Understanding Your Auric Field Every single person has an electromagnetic field around them, often called the auric field. Dee explains that this field reflects what is happening inside you and acts as a gateway for taking in the energy of the world around you. When you feel an instant resistance to someone, it is your energetic system telling you that your magnets are pushing apart. Conversely, when a conversation deeply resonates with your soul, your energy naturally aligns, and you walk away feeling recharged rather than depleted. Everyday Energy Protection If you are about to step into a stressful room or a difficult conversation, how can you practice good energy protection? Dee shares two incredibly simple, tool-free visualization techniques to help you instantly ground yourself: The Root Method: Imagine deep roots growing out of the bottom of your feet, reaching far down into the earth. Visualize pulling that calm, grounded earth energy all the way up into your body. The Waterfall Method: Picture a powerful, Niagara Falls-style waterfall of bright light rushing through your body. Let it gently wash away any nervous energy or tension straight down into the earth. Redefining Meditation Mary openly shares that she struggles with traditional, sitting-still meditation. Dee offers a beautiful reframe: meditation does not have to be completely still! Whether you are riding a horse, gardening, or throwing pottery, any activity that brings you fully into the present moment and gives your overactive intellect a rest is a perfect form of active meditation. Episode 8: Healing the Land: Property Readings and Ancestral Patterns with Rael Reddick

In this fascinating episode, host Dee Nicole sits down with psychic medium Rael Reddick. While Rael helps people connect with loved ones who have crossed over, one of her greatest passions lies in reading the energy of physical properties. Grab a cup of tea and join us as we explore how the environments we live in directly impact our personal healing journey! Reading the Energy of the Land Rael explains that when she reads a property, she tunes into two distinct frequencies. The first is structural energy, which is the residual energy left behind in homes and buildings. The second is ancestral energy, which involves connecting directly to Mother Earth and the spirits of the people who previously walked the land. By listening to both, we can gain incredible wisdom. Breaking Generational Patterns Are you feeling stuck, facing constant obstacles, or experiencing unexplained health issues? Rael shares that this is often the land's way of telling us we are out of alignment. She shares a profound story about a historical estate experiencing paranormal activity. Through spirit communication, Rael helped the owner uncover the property's painful history. By choosing to honor the truth rather than hide it, the owner brought peace to the land and broke a deep cycle of generational illness. The Energy Within and Around Us We are never separate from our environment. Rael shares a powerful personal story about how the combative, angry energy of temporary renters caused the grass to die and her fruit trees to stop producing. Once they left, she healed the land with gratitude and love, and the trees flourished again. It serves as a beautiful reminder of Rael's core message: the energy around us is the energy within us! Episode 7: The Magic of Stones, Chakras, and Past Life Healing with Allison Hayes

Welcome back to another exciting episode! Today, our host Dee Nicole sits down with a very special guest and one of her long-time teachers, Allison Hayes. Known affectionately as "The Rock Girl," Allison is a professional psychic, healer, and master teacher of stones with over 30 years of experience. She also runs a beautiful retreat center in Asheville, North Carolina. In this episode, we dive into the grounding magic of stones and how they can deeply transform your health and energy. Plugging Into Mother Earth Allison explains that while we are spiritual beings, we must remember to connect physically to the earth. Our brains and organs run on electromagnetic frequencies. Just like you plug a vacuum into a wall socket for power, our bodies need to "plug into" the earth to recharge. Stones, which are born in the belly of Mother Earth, carry these natural, vital frequencies. By matching the right stone to the right energy center (or chakra), we can safely recharge our bodies. Chakras and Your Auric Field Your chakras do an amazing job of generating energy inside your body and creating your auric field (your aura) on the outside. But what happens when we experience toxic relationships, stressful environments, or heavy emotions? Allison notes that these things can cause leaks or tears in our auric field. However, she reminds us that "negative energy" isn't a bad word. It's simply energy we no longer need—just like taking out the trash! Keeping our chakras clean with stones helps flush this trash out and patches any holes in our energy field. Past Life Healing and Hidden Gifts If you have a physical or emotional issue that keeps returning, it might stem from a past life. The incredible thing about working with stones is that they naturally protect you. They can safely encapsulate and flush away past life trauma without you ever needing to know the exact story or relive the pain. A quick tip from Allison: If you are new to this, be careful with clear quartz! Because it amplifies energy, it can bring up emotions you might not be ready to deal with. Sticking to grounding stones helps clear the painful stuff, making beautiful room for your natural gifts to bubble up! Be sure to tune in next time for Part 2, where Allison will share specific stones you can start using today! Episode 6: Unlocking the Akashic Records & Trusting Your Intuition

Welcome to Episode 8! Today, hosts Mary Greensmith and Dee Nicole dive into a fascinating conversation sparked by an unexpected chat Mary had while mucking out horses. When a friend casually mentioned her childhood spirit guides, it ignited Mary's curiosity about intuition, her unique life path, and how our souls guide us behind the scenes. What Are the Akashic Records? To help Mary explore these big questions, Dee introduces the concept of the Akashic Records. Simply put, these records are the energetic archive of your soul since its inception. Every thought, action, choice, and feeling you have ever experienced is recorded here. It acts as a cosmic container holding your soul's entire history. Healing at the Point of Inception While many people access the records just for information, Dee explains that their true magic lies in deep, soul-level transformation. By connecting with "Record Keepers"—the specific guides who protect your energetic archive—you can uncover the root cause of repeating patterns. Healing limiting beliefs at their original point of inception ripples outward, creating profound and positive shifts in your present life. Flexing Your Intuition Muscle You do not need special training to start connecting with your own internal guidance. Dee encourages everyone to treat their intuition like a muscle that has simply atrophied over time. Start playing with it out of pure curiosity! If you get a sudden nudge to turn right instead of left on your walk home, follow it and see what beautiful things you might discover. Mary is so inspired by this chat that she plans to book her very first session with Dee. Tune in next time to hear all about her experience! Episode 4: Exploring the Magic of Reiki Healing

Welcome back to another insightful episode of Healing Starts Here! Today, our hosts Mary Greensmith and Dee Nicole are diving deep into a fascinating topic that is very close to Dee's heart. We are stripping things back to basics to learn all about the beautiful, restorative practice of Reiki. Whether you are completely new to energy medicine or looking to deepen your understanding, this episode is packed with wonderful insights! What Exactly is Reiki? At its core, Reiki is an energy healing practice. A practitioner holds a very specific vibration of healing energy and allows it to flow through the client's system. Dee explains that Reiki never pushes you past your boundaries; the energy naturally goes exactly where your body needs it across your mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical layers. Dee's Journey from Dance to Energy Medicine Dee shares her personal transition from a career as a professional dancer to becoming a Reiki Master. She started with what she playfully calls the "McDonald's version" of Reiki training just to see what it was about. Over time, she sought out incredible teachers across the country, eventually mastering the practice. Dee beautifully compares Reiki to ballet—it is the foundational strength and grammar that supports all other forms of energy healing. Remote Sessions and Surgery Support One of the most mind-blowing aspects of Reiki is that it doesn't require you to be in the same room as your practitioner! Because it is energy work, it exists across space and time. Dee regularly conducts remote sessions while clients relax at home. She even provides energetic support for clients while they are undergoing major operations, which can help promote faster recovery and lower post-operative stress. Finding Deep Soul-Level Relaxation If you suffer from stress or anxiety, Reiki can be a profound tool. Dee shares a touching story of a stressed friend who, after just one session, simply felt like "everything is going to be okay." This deep, soul-level relaxation is exactly where true, lasting healing begins. Episode 3: Ancestral Healing & Plant Wisdom with Jose Zembrano

Welcome to Episode 3 of the Healing Starts Here podcast! Today, host Dee Nicole sits down for an inspiring one-on-one conversation with Jose Zembrano. Jose is a naturalist and keeper of ancestral wisdom living in the beautiful cloud forest of Ecuador. In this episode, they dive into a deeply moving discussion about plant medicine, gut health, and how to find your way back to your true, vibrant self. Finding a New Path to Wellness Jose shares his powerful story of falling severely ill at the age of 15. After facing misdiagnoses and harsh medical interventions that impacted his liver and mental state, he bravely sought an alternative route. This search led him away from the city and deep into the jungle, where he connected with indigenous tribes. There, he discovered the incredible vitality that comes from living in true harmony with nature, far away from modern stressors. The Power of Ancestral Healing and Gut Health One of the core themes Dee and Jose explore is the concept of ancestral healing. Jose explains that much of our modern sickness comes from a profound disconnect with the earth. By returning to an "original diet"—free from processed foods, refined sugars, and alcohol—we can restore our natural microbiome. A healthy digestive system is the ultimate foundation for a clear mind, allowing us to sharpen our intuition and truly hear what our bodies need. Understanding Your Body's Symptoms Are your physical symptoms trying to tell you something important? Jose gently challenges us to see our symptoms not as annoyances, but as vital signals. For example, holding onto a stressful job that doesn't serve you can actually manifest physically as digestive issues. Overcoming these patterns requires us to listen closely, slow down, and find the courage to make necessary life changes so we can move forward. Safely Exploring Plant Wisdom While plant retreats have gained massive popularity recently, Jose emphasizes the need for deep respect and careful preparation. Working with plant wisdom is a lifelong journey, not a quick fix. Engaging with these ancient practices requires proper guidance, a clean diet beforehand, and plenty of restful integration afterward. It is absolutely crucial to work with experienced facilitators who respect the tradition's true lineage. Welcome back to the podcast! Today, our lovely host Mary Greensmith sits down with the brilliant Dr. Anthony de Pontes. With decades of experience starting as a homeopath, Dr. Anthony has expanded his toolkit to include functional medicine, lifestyle adjustments, and acupuncture. In this episode, we explore why chronic healing seems more complex today, how our modern environment impacts our bodies, and how combining different healing modalities can help you reclaim your health and vitality. The Modern Healing Challenge Have you ever wondered why it sometimes takes longer to heal today than it did decades ago? Dr. Anthony explains that our modern environment places an incredible burden on our bodies. Technology and Light: Constant exposure to cell phones, Wi-Fi, and blue light plays havoc with our circadian rhythms. The Nervous System: This technology keeps us in a stressed "fight-or-flight" state, preventing the body from entering the restorative "rest and digest" phase necessary for true healing. Lifestyle Medicine: Correcting these daily habits is now the essential first step in any chronic healing protocol. A Multi-Modality Approach to Wellness Dr. Anthony believes in meeting patients exactly where they are. Rather than overwhelming someone with an impossible five-hour gym routine, he creates tailored protocols using a blend of therapies. Homeopathy: A foundational tool to address both physical and emotional roadblocks. Functional Medicine: Moving beyond "normal" lab results to truly optimize the body. This includes targeted testing (like hair tissue mineral analysis) and essential supplements like Vitamin D3 and B12. Emotional Health: Dr. Anthony notes that up to 80% of physical diseases have emotional roots, making stress and trauma release a critical part of the journey. Understanding Acupuncture For those hesitant about needles, Dr. Anthony offers a beautiful, non-threatening explanation of acupuncture. Drawing on 3,000 years of Chinese medicine, he describes the body's energy meridians as an intricate underground train map. When an organ lacks energy, disease forms. By tapping into specific points (the "stations"), acupuncture balances the body's electricity, relieves stress, and allows powerful energy healing to take place. Episode 1: Healing Starts Here: Bridging Homeopathy and Energy Healing

Welcome to the very first episode of the Healing Starts Here podcast! We are absolutely thrilled to have you join us. Hosted by Mary Greensmith and Dee Nicole, this podcast is an open, unscripted space where we dive deep into the fascinating world of healing, health, and human connection. Healing begins with exploration, and in this inaugural episode, we thought the best place to start was by introducing ourselves. We come from very different backgrounds, but a shared passion for homeopathy and holistic wellness brought us together. Mary's Journey: Finding Healing in Nature Mary shares her beautiful story of growing up in a traditional household where she often felt the need to escape convention. From a young age, her sanctuary was found in nature, working with horses, and dreaming of self-sufficiency. This deep-rooted connection to the earth and her inherent trust in the body's natural ability to heal eventually led her to study homeopathy, a path she is now eager to expand upon. Dee's Journey: The Language of Energy Dee takes us through her incredibly diverse background. Starting as a professional dancer, she learned early on how to communicate purely through movement and energy—a space where the body is always honest. Her journey transitioned from environmental conservation to exploring various modalities, including becoming a Reiki master and volunteering in Africa. For Dee, whether it's dance, religion, or homeopathy, it all taps into the same beautiful, universal human energy. What to Expect from This Podcast Our goal is to bridge the gap between traditional homeopaths and energy healers. We firmly believe that there isn't just one way to heal, and historically, different modalities have always worked in tandem. Whether you are deeply experienced in alternative health or just starting your wellness journey, there is a place for you here. We are so excited to learn, grow, and welcome new voices to the conversation.
