"I Want to Stay in My Own Home" (Part 1 of 2)

Episode 7 (Part 1 of 2 series)

AGING IN PLACE is a concept that resonates with so many older adults. While there are alternatives, most people will say “I Want to Stay in My Own Home” and here’s how. AT HOME IN GREENWICH is one of several hundred member organizations nationally that brings vetted services to the member. No, not just for the elderly and infirmed, but also for those active and wanting to stay put and have others do for them what they once did for themselves, or never wanted to do. An outgrowth of the BEACON HILL PROJECT in Boston. “The mission of Beacon Hill Village is to provide information and services, sponsor recreational and educational activities and foster a strong sense of community so that older adults in central Boston neighborhoods can live their lives to the fullest independently in their own homes.” Greenwich, CT was an early adopter of this “village to village” concept. Executive Director, Lise Jameson has years of experience in social services and shares that in this interview series.

Coming up 00:13

Opening 00:36

Introduction Lise Jameson - At Home in Greenwich 01:12

Evolution “getting started – Beacon Hill” 02:05

Adaptation – geography, demographics 03:28

Services offered – vetting 05:08

How and where we age will be different05:55

Supportive organizations 08:48
