EP 296: As the flaming fires of Hades recalls its master Cronos its time to bring back Ep 133 and say goodbye to a LEGEND
Heavy Metal Tones – Episode 296: A Farewell to Cronos
This is a sad one.
Before we revisit the past, I pay tribute to Cronos — Conrad Lant, the voice, force and driving spirit behind Venom, and one of the figures who helped shape the sound and attitude of extreme metal.
I take a moment to remember Cronos and reflect on his enormous impact before revisiting Episode 133 from November 2023, where I took a deep dive into Welcome to Hell.
An album that changed the rules, challenged everything that came before it, and helped lay the foundations for black metal, death metal and the extreme metal world that followed.
This isn’t just a revisit of an old episode. It’s a look back at a record that still sounds dangerous, raw and utterly uncompromising — and a chance to remember the man behind it.
Raise the volume. Remember Cronos. Remember Venom.
Rest in power, Cronos. 🤘

EP 295: From esoteric to introspective two different Black Metal bands two amazing sounds Trivan and HKSPK
TRIVAN & HKSPK — TWO FACES OF THE EUROPEAN UNDERGROUND
Episode 295 is a double header that takes Heavy Metal Tones deep into two very different corners of the European black metal underground.
First up, TRIVAN from Croatia — esoteric, philosophical and steeped in an atmosphere that feels almost ancient. Their music is built around darkness, introspection, spiritual resistance and the search for something deeper beneath the surface.
Then we head to Germany for HKSPK, whose black/death metal takes a much more introspective and contemporary path. Their music feels rooted in lived experience, loss, conflict and the world around them — raw, direct and very much of the present.
Two bands. Two countries. Two very different approaches to extreme metal.
One feels ancient. The other feels new.
One looks beyond the world. The other looks directly into it.
And to make this episode even more special, I've got TWO EXCLUSIVE TRACKS — one from each of these European underground bands.
This is Heavy Metal Tones at its best: digging beneath the surface, finding music that deserves to be heard, and bringing it directly to you.

EP 294 : 50 years of Punk 1976 to 2026 Ep 7- The Northern sound and Gang of Four's masterpiece Entertainment !
Heavy Metal Tones – Episode 294
50 Years of Punk 1976–2026 – Part 7: The Northern Sound
The punk story heads north for Episode 294 as we continue the journey through 50 Years of Punk 1976–2026.
This time, we’re looking at the sound coming out of the North of England and diving deep into one of the most important and influential records of the era — Gang Of Four’s Entertainment!.
Sharp, angular, political and completely unlike anything that came before it, Entertainment! took the raw energy of punk and twisted it into something more challenging — mixing funk, dub, art-rock and post-punk into a record that still sounds incredibly relevant decades later.
But this isn’t just about one album. It’s about the Northern Sound, the bands, the attitude and the cultural landscape that helped push punk into new territory.
Turn it up, strap in and join me as the 50-year journey continues.
