La Terapia with Rocío Navarro

In this season finale, Rocío sits down with Ana Flores and Cristy Marrero as "the season's therapist" to process together all the wisdom gathered across months of conversations. They talk about why hitting rock bottom is part of the journey, about the ancestral memory we carry from our mothers and grandmothers, about the perfect metaphor of the chrysalis — which dissolves completely before becoming a butterfly — and about why midlife is not a crisis: it's a reckoning, a becoming, a rebirth. As Rocío said, "Water doesn't force its way through. It finds the opening." And so will you.

Rocío Navarro was a school dean in Los Angeles until her body shut down: three days unable to walk. A dream sent her to Guatemala; she spent 50 days in absolute silence and found her path as a water healer. Today she helps other women release what they've been carrying in their bodies without even knowing it.

Chapters:

00:00 - 01:56 Ana & Cristy open the season finale

01:56 - 05:12 Why close with "La Terapia"?

05:12 - 06:49 Meet Rocío: healer, writer, activist

06:49 - 11:34 The burnout that changed everything

12:31 - 15:07 Why water healing?

17:04 - 20:32 Total demolition and rebuild

20:32 - 22:32 Midlife as rebirth

22:32 - 27:40 "Tocar fondo"

29:33 - 33:06 Processing the season's wisdom together

33:06 - 36:03 The pain of falling apart and the courage it takes

36:03 - 42:09 The feminine rising

42:09 - 47:14 How to heal without self-punishment

47:14 - 50:01 Midlife is not a crisis. The Trauma That Didn't Start With Us, with Dr. Mariel Buqué

She studies the only trauma that's passed down through our family lines, and she says the healing starts in the body, not the story. On this episode, Cristy Marrero and Ana Flores sit down with Afro-Dominican holistic psychologist and author of Break the Cycle, Dr. Mariel Buqué.

For generations, Latinas lived inside intergenerational trauma before anyone had a name for it. We called it being strong. We called it sacrifice. Dr. Mariel Buqué explains why so many of the narratives we've carried our whole lives were never even ours to begin with. She walks us through how trauma moves through the family, not just in behavior but in our biology, and why the body remembers what the mind isn't ready to say yet.

This is one of the most personal conversations we've had. Ana announces that she has decided to move back to El Salvador. Cristy names her own postpartum depression. And Dr. Mariel shares the meditation that led her back to a man she hadn't spoken to in 16 years.

Come share wisdom with us.

Chapters:

00:00 - 02:54 Intro: The trauma we called something else

02:54 - 08:26 Defining intergenerational trauma: biology + psychology

08:26 - 13:00 "Calladita te ves más bonita"

16:13 - 20:14 How trauma lives in biology

20:14 - 22:53 Postpartum and the nervous system

28:58 - 35:35 "40 years of survival mode": the rocking chair reset

38:58 - 42:05 Ana's announcement

42:05 - 47:02 The intergenerational higher self & a love rekindled

47:02 - 52:54 Breaking cycles in micro-moments

52:54 - 58:12 How do we know we broke the cycle?

58:12 - 1:01:39 The Tía stories

1:01:39 - 1:03:12 Mariel's Wisdom Era: reinvention, peace, freedom

1:03:12 - 1:05:06 "Entre Sabias": rapid-fire questions

1:05:06 - Rocking chairs & the ripple effect of healing

Our podcast is bilingual, so our episodes will be in English, Spanish, or Spanglish, depending on our guests. Chef Marcela Valladolid: Knowing When to Walk Away After 30 Years of Hustle

She was the first Latina chef to have a show on The Food Network, and she decided to walk away to create a legacy of her own. On this episode, Cristy Marrero and Ana Flores sit down with Emmy-nominated chef, author, and founder of Matriarca, Marcela Valladolid.

She launched her new business at 47 years old.

For 15 years, Marcela was one of the most recognizable Latina faces in food media. She had the shows, the cookbooks, the platform. And she walked away from all of it, not because she failed, but because she was exhausted from being the version of herself that someone else had designed.

Marcela did as midlife women do: she reinvented herself. She built something entirely hers: Matriarca, a clean, intentional pantry brand rooted in the Latino community, Mexican culture, and two decades of earned trust. She did it at 47, raising her kids, learning how to surf in her downtime, and finally choosing the life she deserved.

On this episode, we talk about:

The real cost of walking away from the Food Network after 15 years

Why she says the hustle was physically draining her body and soul

How online cooking classes with her sister became the spark that started everything

The birth of Matriarca and why she needed the brand to outlive her

What going alcohol-free taught her about her own instincts

The wisdom of surfing at 47

Why success is holding grief and gratitude in the same 24 hours

"In our culture, the more a woman sacrifices, the more sacred she becomes. But nobody is giving you a medal at the end."

What her Wisdom Era actually feels like: trusting her intuition without asking permission

If you’ve ever felt “ungrateful” because you had opportunities you’ve never dreamed of, yet the dream became hustle and burnout, this episode is for you!

Chapters:

00:00 - 01:55 Intro: ownership as reinvention

01:55 - 06:35 Being shaped by the network: "How short do you want it?"

06:35 - 09:40 Walking away from the pinnacle: "I was getting nothing but viewership"

09:40 - 13:20 "It was liberating": shedding the persona that drained her

13:20 - 17:10 The moment she knew it was the right call

17:10 - 23:00 The birth of Matriarca: building what the market was missing

23:00 - 29:15 Community as the foundation: they show up because she showed up first

29:15 - 34:00 Going alcohol-free and the personality behind the decision

34:00 - 38:10 The wisdom of surfing: no role, no fear, just you

38:10 - 43:40 "It was not a straight line to become a jefa": the messy process of success

43:40 - 47:20 "We are the elders now": the matriarchs she carries

47:20 - 51:00 What she wants her kids to see — not the company, the joy

51:00 - 54:30 "No medal for martyrs": breaking the sacrifice cycle

54:30 - 57:10 Marcela's Wisdom Era: trusting intuition for the first time

57:10 - 01:00:00 "Entre Sabias": Rapid-fire questions

01:00:00 Closing: Solitude as the essential ingredient

Our podcast is bilingual, so our episodes will be in English, Spanish, or Spanglish, depending on our guests.
