Doing Better for Our Children | Parenting While Healing with Deric Muhammad
What if healing also looks like giving your children something better than what you had?In this episode of Parenting While Healing, activist and author Deric Muhammad shares a powerful reminder: if we’re able to do better for our children than what our parents were able to do for us, then that’s how growth is supposed to work.Parenting isn’t about repeating what was handed down to us. It’s about learning, healing, and choosing what we want to carry forward and what we want to change.

Parenting while Grieving with Pastor Xavier Maryland
What happens when you are grieving, but you are still a parent and your children still need you?
Pastor Xavier and I have an honest conversation about parenting through grief and the reality that children experience loss differently from adults and the fact that sometimes, you don't need to save them or fix them, sometimes you just need to "sit in the ashes".
When a family is grieving, it can be easy to become consumed by our own pain and forget that our children are trying to understand the loss too. They may not always have the words to explain what they are feeling, and their grief may show up through their behavior, silence, questions, anger, fear, or need for reassurance
We explore what it means to make room for your own grief while still paying attention to what your children may be carrying. Parenting while grieving isn’t about pretending to be strong or hiding your emotions or engaging in distractive or constructive behaviors. It is about learning how to grieve with your children without making them responsible for your pain.
Xavier Maryland is a pastor, speaker, husband, and father based in the Houston area. As a communicator, he brings together faith, humor, vulnerability, and real-life experience to help people navigate life with greater hope and perspective. Having walked through grief and loss personally while also caring for others through some of life’s most difficult moments, he speaks candidly about the intersection of faith, grief, mental health, and what it means to keep moving forward when life doesn’t go as planned.

What Is Self-Worth and How Does It Impact Motherhood and Relationships?
“Marriage and motherhood has humbled me."
I know for a fact that a lot of women can resonate with this statement. This is a topic that is close to my heart because I've lived it. The experience of losing yourself to motherhood and relationships can be quite scary, and sometimes it happens so slowly you don't even notice until you're staring at someone you don't fully recognize anymore.
In this episode, we talk about what it really feels like to lose yourself in the roles you play as a mother and a wife, why so many women go through this in silence, and how to start finding your way back to who you are.
If you've ever felt like motherhood or marriage changed you in ways you didn't expect, this episode is for you.

What Teens Wish Parents Knew About Self-Worth
I created this episode because I wanted the next theme of my podcast to be all about "Knowing Your Worth."
I sat with the idea for a while before deciding to feature the teenagers closest to me — my self-worth ambassadors: Nuria, Shloka, and Bella.
This episode is a love letter to every teenager navigating peer pressure, image issues, and self-worth struggles. I want it to feel like validation and a safe space — a reminder that you are not alone, and whatever you're going through is temporary.
To the parents watching: I hope hearing this perspective gives you a glimpse into how teens think, and helps you understand and connect with your child (or children) a little more.
