Best Of InfoComm 2026

In this special end of show episode of HETMA Presents…, Joe Way and Erin Maher-Moran close out an unforgettable InfoComm 2026 with a look back at a packed week for HETMA, Higher Ed AV, and the higher education AV community. From the Higher Ed AV Awards and a standing room only Education Summit to a buzzing booth, packed happy hours, member tours, Prism Scholar events, and the debut of HETMA Homecoming, the conversation captures just how much the organization has grown and how much the community showed up.

Ryan Gray also joins the conversation to reflect on the shift in how manufacturers now view higher ed end users, the value of real partnership between campuses and solution providers, the power of company to company connections made through HETMA, and the growing number of volunteers taking ownership across the organization. The episode closes with a look at what made InfoComm 2026 special, why HETMA’s booth experience continues to stand out, and how the next chapter will focus on bringing new members, longtime members, sponsors, and volunteers back home to the community.

Topics Discussed
Higher Ed AV Awards
HETMA Education Summit
HETMA’s InfoComm booth experience
Best of Show recognition
Sponsor and partner support
Volunteer powered community building
Coffee, happy hours, and booth hospitality
FlexSpace feedback and demonstrations
VIP qualified buyer reception
End user and manufacturer relationships
Higher ed decision makers on the show floor
Company to company connections through HETMA
Prism Scholars at InfoComm
HETMA and AVIXA tours
AV SuperFriends Hidden Gems tour
Making InfoComm smaller and more navigable
Road to 10K wrap up
HETMA Homecoming launch
The value of returning members and new members
InfoComm 2027 booth announcement

Connect with Joe Way
https://www.linkedin.com/in/josiahway

Connect with Erin Maher-Moran
https://www.linkedin.com/in/erin-maher-moran
https://www.hetma.org

Connect with Ryan
https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryanagray/
ryan@higheredav.com

Join the HETMA Community
community.hetma.org

This show is a production of Higher Ed AV Media. Checking in with NEXXT at InfoComm 2026

NEXXT is not a booth stop at InfoComm 2026. It is a partner helping the AV community create space for practical AI-era transformation. In the HETMA booth conversation, Byron Tarry, Founder & Chief Transformation Officer of NEXXT, talked about the NEXXT partnership with HETMA, eXplore ISE, The SPRINT with AVIXA, and the need to bring both leaders and front-line teams into the work. For higher ed AV/IT teams, the value is in moving past AI talk and into shared experimentation, practical innovation methods, and campus voices helping shape what comes next.

Checking in with SAVe at InfoComm 2026

SAVe is not a booth stop at InfoComm 2026. It is a partner doing work higher ed AV teams should have on their calendar. In the HETMA booth conversation, Christina De Bono shared updates on the SAVe Sustainable Manufacturer Council, SAVe a Second Life, SAVe Certification, volunteer opportunities, and the SAVe 2026 Global Conference coming October 13–14, 2026, to UCLA Covel Commons in Los Angeles. For campus AV/IT teams, the value is in connecting refresh cycles, retired equipment, sustainable purchasing, reuse, recycling, and campus planning to a larger AV industry movement. HETMA members should take a close look at the conference, the certification workshop, and the SAVe a Second Life partnership.
