242 – Ruff Guide to ShowDogs
From one night at a club to a national pup institution — this week, Hide and Seek goes back to where the Australian Pup and Handler Competition began. Jon and Joenas are joined by Pup Tycho, founder of the Australian Pup and Handler Competition, researcher, community organiser and one of the people who helped shape Australia’s modern pup and handler scene. Ahead of APHC’s return to Boorloo/Perth, Tycho takes us back to the beginning: discovering pup play, stepping into community leadership and creating a national competition with little more than one leather contest, one book about IML and a determination to do things differently. We unpack the ideas that became central to APHC — transparency, accessibility, affordability, safety and the belief that inclusion has to be something you do, not something you simply claim. Tycho reflects on wheelchair access, sensory spaces, keeping events financially accessible and why taking APHC around the country matters. Then we follow the competition through its evolution: the frantic first year, its first interstate outing at Gear’d, Tycho receiving the inaugural Nipper Award from International Puppy and Handler Weekend, the uncertainty of the lockdown years, APHC’s post-pandemic return and the growth of an increasingly diverse Australian pup community. And with APHC now owned and run by the community itself, we ask what comes next. What should an Australian titleholder actually do? Where does inclusion still fall short? Sex, disability and a little bit of first aid — because sometimes the “ooh” becomes an “oops”. Craig and Jonas are joined by CJ from EthiKink to talk about disability, desire and why disabled people deserve far more than assumptions about what their sex lives look like. From accessibility and communication to autonomy, consent and finding creative ways to make sex work for different bodies, CJ explains why “wonky bonkers have more fun”. Then things get practical. What happens when someone gets hurt during sex or kink? 240 – Tasting Honey
Leather, drag, porn, politics and a bit of daddy energy — this week, Hide and Seek gets a taste of Honey, and it was sweet! Jon Kok and Joenas Galinato are joined by drag artist, DJ, activist, adult content creator and reigning International Mr. Leather 2026, Honey Davenport. Honey made history earlier this year when they took home leather’s most iconic international title, becoming the first competitor from RuPaul’s Drag Race to be crowned International Mr. Leather. But Honey’s story is much bigger than a single sash. In this episode, Honey talks about growing from the New York drag scene into the House of Davenport, how drag helped them understand their gender, and why performance, activism and community have always been part of the same deliciously sticky package. We get into their journey through leather, from frozen margaritas near Rawhide to the New York City Eagle, Palm Springs Leather, Mr. Dick’s, and eventually IML itself. Honey reflects on finding their tribe, being a Black non-binary titleholder, and what it means to create belonging in leather and queer spaces rather than just saying the word “inclusive” and hoping for the best. And because this is Hide and Seek, we do not stop at the safe-for-work version of leather. Honey talks openly about sexual liberation, kink, getting thrown out of leather bars, adult content creation, studio porn with Treasure Island and Nasty Daddy, fisting, leather as fetish, and why their gear is not really gear until it has been played in. We also look at leather’s history of care, HIV activism and community education, including Honey’s involvement with the Stone That Remembers campaign at the National AIDS Memorial Grove, and why the dads, daddies, elders and mentors in our communities need to start dadding again.
