What Do You Do When You Lose Everything? He Chose the Quran.
In this deeply personal and emotional episode, we sit with Shaykh Bukhari Ibrahim, who began his journey with the Qur'an in Denmark and the UK, and went on to complete the ten Qira'at in Mauritania, all before his mid-twenties.Shaykh Bukhari opens up about navigating the vicious distractions and temptations of life in the West, turbulent personal trials, and watching his peers walk through the same storms, and how, by the permission of Allah, the Qur'an was the rope they all held on to.When the dunya turns its back on you, when the world spits in your face and everyone leaves, the Qur'an remains. For those who are sincere to it, it is a companion like no other. We ask Allah to make us of the companions of the Qur'an. Ameen. There are moments in life when the Qur'an stops being something you only recite and becomes the one thing keeping you on your feet. This episode was recorded in Al-Madinah, our guest joined us on his final day in Madinah, fresh from Umrah, and what came out of that sitting is one of the most honest and moving conversations we have ever had on Hifdhstatus. He grew up in Manchester. The kind of streets where the odds are not in your favour. He will tell you himself that without the Qur'an he would not be here. And he means that literally. In this episode we talk about his father, who was his teacher, his Shaykh and his closest companion all in one. We talk about what it means to grow up in a home where the Qur'an is not just on the shelf but woven into the fabric of everything. We talk about why Hifdh is a tool and not the destination, and what happens when you find your real why. We talk about Mauritania, what it actually looks and feels like to learn in a place where nothing stands between you and the knowledge. And we talk about his darkest period, and what the Qur'an did in that moment. If this reaches your heart please subscribe, leave a comment and share it with someone who needs it.
