EJ prepares to play Troy which leaves Carlos filling in as Chad. Big Red gets great at the lighting system that Mr. Mazzara extends the invitation for him to join the robotics club. Ricky really wants to do what's best for Nini since he's not in the best head space but he finds out with the help from Gina that the best way for her to truly shine is with him being there beside her. The constant cast change seems to leave the audience confused for a while but in the end they give the best performance of their lives. "Opening Night!" Season 1 Episode 9 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" Review & Recap

It's Act 1, and it's about to be a crazy opening night when Ricky loses his confidence, Gina returns and Nini freaks out that her future could be changing when the play ends. "What Happened In This Episode of TV?" 4-8 Sentence RECAP: It's Opening Night for High School Musical and everyone is feeling a little nervous. After her amazing sound check performance, Miss Jenn asks Kourtney to take on the part of Taylor in Gina's place and while she is excited, she is freaking out. Nini and Ricky are trying to still figure out just what they are after there "moment" in the room at the El Rey Theatre. The cast takes a moment to just be with each other before curtain and they revelve in this moment of finally after all their hard work, they're finally here. When Big Red has problems with the lights, Miss Jenn pleads with Mr. Mazzara to help them which he trades for her helping spread awareness of the Robotics Club to the audience. Gina shows up and Kourtney begs her to play Taylor for Status Quo. Nini finds out Kourtney got the head of the Youth Actors Conservatory to come see her and she's not sure she's ready. During "Getcha Head In the Game" Ricky sees his mom's new boyfriend and he is not prepared to face that especially for his opening night. When Ricky finds out that Nini's chance for getting into the YAC, he asks a surprised E.J. to take his place for Act 2 because he doesn't want to be the reason she can't have her dream. "Thanksgiving; The Tech Rehersal" Season 1 Episodes 7 & 8 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" Review & Recap

Thanksgiving break is on at East High. Ashlynn plans a theatre group "after party" for her friends at her house. Ricky finds out that his mom has a new man in her life and is not dealing with it well. Gina finally seems to be gelling with the theatre kids. Carlos brings over a game that feel all the theatre kids heart with warmth. After Nini talks with her grandmother, she starts to think she might need to make a new start on a new shore. After winning the game, Gina gets devastating news that changes everything for her. Miss Jenn and Mr. Mazzara end up at the high school after lying to each other about their plans and seem to come to a better understanding of each other but causes mini explosion. E.J.'s major confession spree is not giving him the reaction from others he'd hope. Episode 8 "Tech Rehersal": After the theatre is destroyed by the fire, the theatre group must scramble to find a replacement venue if they want to do their production. Carlos saves the day by having his uncle let them use the El Rey Theatre! Everything that could go wrong seems to be going wrong. From the lights to the P.A. System and Miss Jenn is freaking out. Nini and Ricky are still a little uneasy with each other after their conversation on Thanksgiving, but after discovering just how much history they have with each other does this mean they'll be getting back together? Kourtney is put on the spot to sing and shows everyone just what she is capable of. Big Red and Ashlynn seem to be getting closer as the flirting heightens. When E.J. reads his auditon notes he takes proving Miss Jenn wrong on a whole nother level. Even though Kourtney isn't happy about being without Nini, she finally understands just how much Nini loves and deserves to be on stage. So she takes the initiative to give Nini the push she needs in getting to the Youth Actors Conservatory. Miss Jenn takes a fall and has a dream sequence with an OG cast member from High School Musical. Lucas Gabreel and Miss Jenn performs a song that makes her understand that her dream didn't end or that she's failed.
