The show takes a look at the known and the unknown stories of the Gateway to the West. Sue Thomas grew up in St. Louis and has been a traffic reporter here since the 1990s. Sue loves her two English Bulldogs, swimming, biking, and all things St. Louis!
The latest exhibit at the Missouri History Museum is called, "St. Louis At Bat", in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Cardinals' first World Series win in 1926. Adam Kloppe, a Public Historian from the museum is the Content Lead for the exhibit. He talks about some of the stories and artifacts in the exhibit, which includes the Cardinals and Browns and Stars, but also beep ball, corkball, and more. Such great stories! History of the Interstates in St. Louis
2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956, which significantly changed the St. Louis area and helped launch the American family vacation. Local author and historian Joe Sonderman is back talking about it all, including how parts of entire neighborhoods were taken down to make way for the highways. Sonderman wrote, "St. Louis...Bridges, Highways, and Roads", by the way. Oh, and Fred Bodimer drops by to talk about how interstate construction affected his family.
