Welcome to Hit It with the Hips, the podcast where baseball meets family, fantasy, and all the dreams in between. We're an LA-based couple on a mission to visit all 30 MLB stadiums, bringing our passion for the game—and each other—straight to your earbuds. Whether it's the crack of the bat, the excitement of dynasty leagues, or the thrill of fantasy baseball, we’ve got the takes, stats, and stories you won’t hear anywhere else.
We know that baseball isn’t just a sport; it’s a journey. Along the way, we’ll share our insights, dive deep into the world of fantasy leagues, and maybe even throw in a few dad jokes (because let’s be real, we’re parents, too).
Join us as we swing for the fences, hit it out of the park with the best advice, and make every episode a grand slam. If you're into building your fantasy roster, crafting your dynasty, or just soaking in some classic baseball wisdom, you've found your new home.
Wow, Mr. Hip really out here returning to baseball after 36 and celebrating his wedding anniversary and Mother’s Day with some swings at the Yellow Bolt Sports batting cage with Kat, the co-hostess with the mostest. They broke down the Beltway Classic beat down on Rivalry Weekend, checked in on their season predictions, share a timeless dynasty baseball resource, and drop their first weekly challenge for listeners to guess Kat and Donald’s walk up song.
This episode was cool but they be mixing the personal with the baseball talk in a way that got me thinking.

Story-Time With Foster Griffin
This week of 4/20, baseball fans can catch every Orioles-affiliated team in action all in one week, a rare treat for anyone following the full organization. On the food front, we're recapping the vegan options at Nationals Stadium, including some thoughts on the best plant-based bites you can find at a ballpark. Over at Nats Kids Opening Day, the festivities doubled as a birthday celebration for mascot Screech, with pitcher Griffin bringing a special touch by reading a Charlie Brown Baseball story to our kids and they got to take home a copy of the book. The energy was also high thanks to the Mascot Chase, where our family had to hunt down Screech and snap a photo before the fourth inning, turning the time pressure into a really fun bonus activity for the kids.
Episode Note: The Nat's Pitcher name is indeed Foster Griffin (not Forest, not Peter) LOL

Episode Notes: Kat wanted to say Ben Rice's name another time. She mistakenly said his name for the Cy Young Award prediction the first time. BEN RICE! wooo.

Favorites, Flukes & Family Affairs
Two weeks in and the fantasy gods are already playing favorites. Power rankings shuffle like a bad playlist. Some teams are vibing, others are... learning. A mother-daughter Dodger Stadium date turns into something bigger than baseball. Plus, rapid fire gets weird (as it should).
Trust the process. Or don’t.

Notes for our listeners:
While in a new recording room, some of the audio for this episode was affected. We made the joint decision to share this episode because in the words of Kat: This was a fun one!
Oh & Kathleen was correct about Isaac Paredes on this episode.

Kat here - after a review of old photos, the Dodgers game was, in fact, our first Stadium date. Donald was INDEED right.

The First Pitch
Some hits live rent-free in our heads forever. Some off-season moves make us believers (or haters). Some players just have that energy. And rule changes? Yeah, we’ve got thoughts. Welcome to the debut episode of Hit It With the Hips, where we talk baseball the way we live life—full of passion, a little chaos, and plenty of friendly competition.

Notes for our listeners:
Donald said 2024-2025 season and meant 2025 instead.
Kat did not breastfeed both of our little ones at the Mets stadium. She took Marigold to the sensory pod at the stadium though.
During the rapid-fire questions segment, Kat said her favorite player was Luroco. Luroco is her favorite Pupusa flavor - her first favorite Dodger player is, in fact, Paul Lo Duca.
