Indentifikasi Sektor Industri Yang Membutuhkan Komoditas Yang Tergolong Mineral Kritis

Mineral kritis merupakan mineral logam dan non-logam yang mempunyai fungsi ekonomis penting, sulit diperoleh dengan mudah, tidak dapat diganti oleh mineral lain, dan menghadapi beberapa tingkat risiko kehabisan pasokan. Risiko pasokan dapat berasal dari kelangkaan geologis, masalah geopolitik, kebijakan perdagangan, atau faktor lainnya. Seperti yang kita ketahui bersama dalam penentuan mineral kritis diperlukan tingkat resiko kehabisan mineral. Tingkat resiko kehabisan sendiri dapat diketahui dari banyaknya cadangan dan sumberdaya yang ada di suatu negara. Oleh karena itu  negara wajib memiliki inventarsasi cadangan atau sumberdaya atau daftar jumlah tonase cadangan atau sumberdaya yang dimiliki dalam suatu negara. Selain dari tingkat resiko kehabisan suatu mineral dibutuhkan juga tingkat kebutuhan dari mineral bahan baku tersebut. Tingkat kebutuhan suatu mineral tiap negara melakukan pendekatan klasifikasi yang berbeda yang nantinya berhubungan dengan strategi penyusunan mineral kritis.

Kebutuhan akan mineral kritis bukan menjadi hal yang tidak umum lagi bagi masing-masing negara. Karena pada zamannya, perkembangan zaman menuntut tiap tiap negara untuk berkembang dan peran mineral kritis dalam memenuhi tuntutan ini sangat dibutuhkan. Namun sesuai dengan pengertiannya secara umum, mineral kritis ini sangat terbatas di dunia sehingga dibutuhkan beberapa startegi dalam pemakaiannya.
