Episode Twenty two - Chungking Express (1994)
You might not have guessed it from looking at the movies we talked about for the last two seasons but we actually always intended to cover other sort of Hong Kong movies than the action or genre ones. The timing was never right, there were always ideas, or maybe we didn't feel ready yet? Well, guess what? We are now, and we are covering Chungking Express from the beloved, and equally criticized, Wong Kar-Wai. Released in 1994 and shot while editing Dung che sai duk/Ashes of Time, Chungking Express is an incredible movie about two love stories.
You might also notice the lack of introduction about other random subjects in this episode, but fear not dear listener, as we kept those for the end simply because... we forgot? We were too excited to cover this movie? So stick around if you want to hear us talk about Eric Khoo, Devil May Cry and Like a Dragon 8. We hope you enjoy this episode and do let us know what you think.

Then, we move to a quick conversation around Marvel's [Captain America - Brave New World](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14513804/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_captain%2520america) before recommending two books, [Film Korea](https://www.biblio.com/book/film-korea-na/d/1616233197?aid=frg&srsltid=AfmBOopK7oZ8Uqvij18IoR7ZLHZFqqeBEwtzpSyqXQgXSAx-FrAluERW) by Michael Leader and Jake Cunningham (published in english by Wellbeck Publishing and in french by Ynnis Edition) and [Wrath of the Dragon - Real life fights of Bruce Lee](https://ecwpress.com/products/wrath-dragon-bruce-lee) by John Little (published in english by ECW Press). Finally, we move to our main conversation of the episode around Brandy Yuen's [The Champions](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085260/?ref_=nm_flmg_job_1_cdt_t_67) featuring a young Yuen Biao, Moon Lee and Dick Wei. This early contender to the title of martial art soccer comedy leads us to talk about various other things including Captain Tsubasa, the more obscure Moreo Top Striker (aka L'ecole des champions in France), and Bernard Tapi's duet with the rapper Doc Gyneco.
