Episode 4: Backrooms (creepypasta story turned to Horror film)

🎬 What We're Watching The Backrooms - Director Kane Parsons' adaptation of the internet's most unsettling creepypasta story A film that transforms the concept of liminal spaces into a horror experience where your deepest traumas literally become the monsters hunting you. 📋 Episode Breakdown The Setup - How a viral 4chan post became a cultural phenomenon - What makes the "Backrooms" concept so inherently creepy - The challenge of adapting internet folklore to the big screen The Discussion The crew watched Backrooms and came away with very different opinions—and that's what makes this episode so much fun. We're talking: First Impressions - What worked, what didn't, and what had us genuinely unsettled The Adaptation - How faithfully does Kane Parsons capture the creepypasta's essence? Trauma as Monster - Breaking down the film's central concept of manifested fears Visual Style - The liminal space aesthetic and whether it translates to horror Character Reactions - Do we care about the people trapped in the Backrooms? Why We're All Over the Map The beauty (and chaos) of this episode is that we didn't all feel the same way. Some of us were genuinely freaked out, others found it campy, and everyone had solid reasons why. That's the kind of honest horror discussion we live for. 💀 Key Takeaways Creepypasta adaptations are a unique beast—internet lore doesn't always translate to film Liminal spaces hit different when they're trying to kill you Sometimes the best horror discussions happen when you disagree about what you're watching Kane Parsons brought serious ambition to this project 🔗 Resources & Links Want more from the Hooked On Horror crew?
