What's your excuse?

God showed up to Moses in a miraculous way, and placed a call on Moses's life to be God's representative to free the children of Israel from their bondage in Egypt. But Moses's objections before the burning bush are closer to excuses than actual questions of clarification.

This week we continue reading Exodus 3-4 and look at Moses's three final objections to God's call. We'll study God's patient response to each objection until Moses's final excuse reveals the truth of his heart. Then we'll examine our own hearts to see what kind of excuses we make to God in our own lives

Do you feel like you're in over your head?

Decades after Moses tried and failed to help his people in slavery, God appeared to Moses in a miraculous way, as a flame within a bush that was not consumed. In this encounter, God revealed to Moses that He had heard the cry of Israel and had come down to deliver them. But how will Moses respond to the news that God is sending him to bring the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt?

This week we continue reading Exodus 3 and see Moses's reaction to the call of God on his life. We'll look at the differences between true and false humility and we'll study the significance of God's statement: I AM THAT I AM. Together we'll look at what that meant for Moses as God sent him to Pharoah, and what it means for us today when God calls us to join Him in the work of the gospel in our own families and communities.

Do you ever feel stuck in an ordinary life?

For 40 years, Moses lived in obscurity, as a husband and father and shepherd in the desert of Midian. But God wasn't done with Moses, and He hadn't forgotten the cry of His people in bondage in Egypt. So one ordinary day, God showed up in Moses's life in an extraordinary way.

This week we begin reading Exodus 3 and see God appear to Moses in the Burning Bush. We'll look at the significance of the bush that was on fire but was not consumed, and why Moses had to take off his sandals on that holy ground. And we'll learn how Moses is an example to us of how we are to respond when our extraordinary God meets us in the midst of our ordinary lives.
