The Plagues: When God Draws the Line | Exodus 8:20-32
Partial obedience is still disobedience.
The fourth plague on Egypt brought swarms of flies throughout the land. But this time God did something different. While the flies swarmed into the homes of all the Egyptian officials and Pharoah himself, not a single fly was seen in the land of Goshen, where God's people dwelled. As Pharoah sought relief from the plague, he attempts to bargain with Moses to allow them to obey God only halfway. How will Moses respond to the offer of compromise?
This week we finish reading Exodus 8 and the fourth of the Ten Plagues of Egypt. We'll study what Egyptian religious customs this plague was set against and look into the significance of God drawing the line between His people and the Egyptians. And then we'll examine our own lives and ask ourselves if we are fully obeying God, or allowing compromise to run our lives today.

The Plagues: The Finger of God | Exodus 8:16-19
What do you do when everything seems against you?
God has stretched out His arm against Egypt to free His people from their bondage by striking the Nile River and overrunning the land with frogs. But Pharoah still hardened his heart and refused to let the Hebrews go. Next God will turn to the ubiquitous sand and bring the kingdom to a standstill with the smallest of insects.
This week we continue reading Exodus 8 and the third of the Ten Plagues of Egypt. We'll study what the dust of the earth represents and the significance of God turning the dust to the plague of gnats. And we'll see the response of Pharaoh and the magicians of Egypt when they can no longer duplicate the plagues. Then we'll step back and ask ourselves what it is God wants us to let go of when we find our routines interrupted by the finger of God.
