<p> Ministering: Pastor Princewill Afolabi Topic: Misconceptions About Leadership | Understanding Leadership Text: 1 Kings 12:10-16 1. 1 king 12:7 This reading made us understand that today’s leaders believe that leadership is a position that should make them to be worshipped or given preference, they do not know that it is a way of serving. A leader is a servant of the people. It is important you know that you cannot occupy a leadership office if you have not been serving before. Leaders are people’s servant, and when brought to a place of leadership should serve the people. A leader is servant not a lord. Leadership is not a post or position, it is an assignment. Any organization that is not doing well is due to leadership error while organization that is doing well is the leadership success. You don’t have business in leadership if you don’t care for the people you lead. If you are a leader and your people are not successful you have wasted the opportunity given to you to be a leader. Any leader that is not productive has no business in leadership. Service is the only way to productive and rewarding kind of leadership. 2. Matthew 3:13-15; Today’s generation of leaders see leadership as a position that exempts them from following due process. A true leader leads by example. You can’t lead well if you are not leading by example. 2corinthians 10:6 The reason why some leaders are not prospering because they are stingy. If you are a true leader you must be sacrificial towards your vision. A leader should follow the organized structure. Follow the rules because leadership is not to make you proud but for you to serve. 3. Exodus 17:12; Today’s generation of leaders instead of supporting their Moses they prefer to take the glory to their selves. If you are serving in any way, serve your leaders for grace. Whoever is your Moses lift his hand up.
