[…] You're training people to be patient, to de-escalate situations, and then use the minimum force necessary as rarely as you possibly can. Unfortunately, when you are in law enforcement and you have thousands and thousands of contacts every year, you're going to run into some very bad people who are going to require force to be used. And sometimes that rises all the way to the ultimate level of force, which is deadly force. But the goal of every officer that is trained by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is to de-escalate very first and go as far with the escalation as you possibly can before you have to resort to any type of physical force.
