Podcast Overview

How To Break Money is the opposite of a get rich quick story. Any authority I have on this subject stems from my experience working with Russ Dalbey. He was an infomercial charlatan in the early aughts who promised to teach people how to get rich in real estate without using their own money. His infomercial was called ”Winning in the Cash Flow Business.” In the five years I worked for Russ, he pulled three hundred and thirty million dollars out of his company. But the man who taught him how to make money at that scale, Don Lapre, was broke when he killed himself while in federal custody, awaiting trial for fraud. So, it’s complicated.

Episode Two: Stealing Mötley Crüe

How could I become someone that would help a scam artist like Russ Dalbey rip-off over a quarter of billion dollars from people? I think it starts in 1985, when I decided to shoplift for the first time. I was at the mall and Mötley Crüe had just released their album Theatre of Pain. I was convinced that I needed that tape even though I didn't have the cash.
