About How to Lend Money to Strangers
A podcast about lending innovation and lending leadership in all the markets in which it takes place, however diverse those markets may be. In fact, it’s a case of ‘the more diverse the better,’ with guests from New York to New Zealand discussing everything from crypto-backed mortgages to crowd-funded loans for refugees to gamified loan journeys to AI-powered credit scores. I am the host, Brendan le Grange, and I have spent the last twenty years working in - or alongside - lenders in Africa, Asia, and Europe and I’m using that experience to find and learn from industry insiders in a series of weekly interviews. Sometimes, those interviews discuss the inspiration behind a new start-up, sometimes they look back at a career spent at the lending coal face, and sometimes they explore where the latest technologies might take us. […] Yeah. So I'd say the one that I think is being very we're having a lot of people clamoring to talk about. And and that is obviously AI isn't anything new in financial services. And I think what is new is obviously the fact that it's now being brought into the front end of these financial institutions. But not just that, it's actually making decisions on behalf of bankers. And obviously, when the bank exists to basically turn a profit and reduce risk at the same time, this is two major functions that either leads to a huge opportunity or a huge risk. So we've got incredible sessions where we've got a debate on whether financial institutions look to apply the guillotine to a lot of the headcount or whether or not actually this is the perfect time when if anyone can vibe code, why not turn your employees into super soldiers in that regard when it comes to offering financial services?
