How To: TALK. (Audio Portrait 01)

Welcome to How To: Manage Your Mind

Episode 08 - How To: TALK. (Audio Portrait 01) with John Robertson

TALK. (https://www.talkportraits.co.uk/) is an ongoing portraiture project by Edinburgh-based photographer Graham Williams, started in March 2023. The project aims to encourage men to talk openly and honestly about their mental health by displaying portraits of individuals who have done exactly that. Each portrait is taken after a conversation between sitter and photographer, during which they discuss their own journeys and experiences with mental health. The text which is displayed alongside each photograph comes directly from this conversation. In collaboration with HT:MYM, TALK. finds another voice through the creation of Audio Portraits. Words so generously shared by some TALK. subjects will also be recorded and reside permanently alongside the original imagery as audio-documentaries that help bring these impactful and essential stories to life as a further contribution to the wider mental wellbeing conversation. This is John's story...

Hi, I’m John, and we have something in common: a mind…

Six years ago I unexpectedly hit a major mental brick wall.
