Maja Kasperczak: Navigating Grief, Pandemic Shock and Bat-Wielding Nazis

Today on HowNow we’re talking to Maja Kasperczak. Back in February 2020, Maja was forced to move back to her native Poland from Canada. Since then she has had little time to readjust being thrown by the effects of a global pandemic and Poland’s largest protests since the fall of communism. We discuss the concept of 'home'. Maja had spent a few years living in Canada and had to return to Poland when her visa expired, only two months before the world shut down. She found herself living back home with her family in Warsaw after years of living independently abroad. Back in Poland, Maja has tried to kindle her own version of the open, welcoming Canadian culture she first found when she was a newcomer.
