THE HARD TRUTH ABOUT YOUR CIRCLE

You are being influenced more than you realize.

Every conversation, every friendship, every podcast, every group chat, every social feed, and every environment is shaping the person you're becoming. The question is: is it pushing you forward or pulling you backward?

In this episode, we dive into the power of influence, proximity, and environment. We unpack why leadership isn't about titles or positions, but about influence, and how every single one of us is either raising or lowering the standard for the people around us.

We explore the idea that you become like the people you spend the most time with and why auditing your circle may be one of the most important exercises you can do. Are the people around you making you sharper or sloppier? Do they challenge you to grow or encourage you to stay comfortable? Are they helping you build discipline, faith, and purpose, or pulling you toward excuses, distraction, and complacency?

But this conversation isn't just about evaluating others. It's also about evaluating yourself.

What kind of influence are you bringing into the rooms you enter? Do people become better because you're around? Do you bring clarity, accountability, and growth? Or do you contribute to gossip, negativity, and lowered standards?

This episode challenges you to stop being a thermometer that simply reflects the temperature of the room and start becoming a thermostat that sets it.

Because whether you realize it or not, you're influencing someone. The only question is what direction you're leading them.

The Best Thing I Started Doing Was Saying No

If it’s not a full-body yes, it might need to be a no.

In this episode, we talk about the power of making decisions with more clarity, intention, and conviction. Inspired by a simple “let’s go” moment from a Zac Brown Band show, this conversation breaks down why half-hearted yeses often lead to half-hearted effort, weak boundaries, resentment, and unnecessary exhaustion.

We unpack why saying no is not selfish. It is stewardship. It is protection. It is choosing to guard your time, energy, peace, and purpose so you can give your best to what actually matters.

From health and spiritual discipline to finances, fatherhood, marriage, friendships, and business, this episode challenges you to look at every area of your life through a sharper filter: Does this align with who I am becoming? And what will this yes actually cost me?

We also explore the idea of treating each area of life like a bank account. Your health, marriage, business, friendships, and faith all need consistent deposits so that when life requires withdrawals, you do not end up overdrawn in the places that matter most.

If your life has felt cluttered, chaotic, or stretched thin, this episode is a reminder that more is not always better. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is narrow your focus, protect your yes, and move only toward the things that make you say, “let’s go.”

What If Rejection Is Actually a Good Thing?

In this episode, we explore why rejection isn't the end of the road, but often a form of redirection, protection or preparation. The truth is that most successful people aren't the most talented or the most connected. They're simply the ones who kept going when others stopped.

We dive into the power of persistence, why consistency compounds over time, and how learning to enjoy the process is one of the greatest advantages you can develop. Because if you hate the journey, you'll never truly enjoy the destination.

I also share a personal story from one of the most disappointing moments of my career. After leaving Paramount Pictures, I went through six rounds of interviews with Warner Bros. only to hear "no." At the time, it felt like a major setback. Looking back, it was one of the best things that ever happened to me because it ultimately led to building NOX Media.

We'll also unpack why most people don't actually fear failure. They fear the feeling of failure and what others might think if they fall short. But real failure only happens when you decide to quit.

If you've been facing rejection, questioning your progress, or feeling discouraged by how long something is taking, this episode is a reminder that your next breakthrough may be hiding behind your next "no."

Because the people who win aren't always the most gifted. They're the ones who refuse to stop showing up.
