The Bible's most famous stories aren't what you think. Dr. Liora Ravid is a biblical historian who digs beneath the familiar narratives to uncover what actually happened — and why. Using archaeology, ancient law, and the original Hebrew text, Dr. Ravid reveals the real, fragile lives of Biblical heroes like Abraham, Sarah, David, and Jacob. Short, surprising, and deeply researched, each episode reframes a story you thought you knew. Based on "The Secret Lives of Biblical Figures" by Dr. Liora Ravid. Dr. Liora Ravid is a Biblical historian, born and raised in Israel, where she has shared the language and landscape of the Bible's characters her entire life. She earned her PhD in Biblical Studies at Bar-Ilan University, specializing in the social and legal norms of the ancient world - the marriage customs, inheritance laws, and daily realities that shaped the lives of the Bible's most famous figures. Her original Hebrew book, "The Bible Really Happened," was published in Israel in 2009 and later translated into English. Her latest book, "The Secret Lives of Biblical Figures," brings her decades of research to a wider audience. If you asked her what makes the Bible enduringly popular, she'd tell you: it's a book about ordinary people - who loved and hated, celebrated and mourned, raised families and buried children — navigating a world that, to us, is both utterly foreign and deeply, recognizably human.
