Welcome to Human Evolution, the podcast where growth gets real, patterns get exposed, and things start to look a little different.
I'm Jodi Tala, Integrative Neuro-Regulation Coach and founder of Mind Drop.
This is where we have the conversations that don't always get said out loud. We're unpacking emotional regulation, neuroscience, and the patterns shaping how you think, feel, and show up in the world - and what it really takes to change.
For the self-aware, heart-led humans and high performers who are done running on autopilot and ready to live life on purpose.
Let's go.
My Brain Needs a Staff Meeting: Why We Do the Weird Things We Do
Ever walked into a room and completely forgotten why you went in there? Your brain can do some extraordinary things ... and yet occasionally can't manage a trip to the laundry.
This week Jodi is calling an emergency staff meeting. We're talking about the doorway effect, the imaginary conversations we rehearse (and somehow win), and what happens when the brain's CEO, guard dog and old apps all have very different ideas about what's going on.
Plus, why autopilot is actually useful, how talking to yourself can help organise your thoughts, and why not every quirky little behaviour needs a deep psychological explanation. A lighter, laugh-filled look at the science behind the wonderfully weird things we humans do.

How to be Consistent: Habits, Routines and the 21 Day Myth
Why do some behaviours start happening almost automatically while others still take effort, planning and conscious thought?
This week Jodi unpacks the difference between habits and routines, how cues help automaticity develop, and why something complex like going to the gym can contain habits without the whole thing becoming one. She looks at the difference between starting a behaviour and doing it, why the exact same routine can feel completely different depending on your available capacity, and how to tell the difference between a capacity problem and a badly designed routine.
Plus, where did the 21-day habit rule actually come from? Is 90 days any better? And what does the research really say about how long habits take to form? If you're trying to become more consistent without turning your entire life into one giant routine, this one's for you.

Why Someone Else's Success Triggers You (Envy and the Drama Triangle)
Someone you know shares a massive win. One person hears it and goes, "How did they do that, and what could I learn?" Another starts building a case for why it was easier for them. This week Jodi unpacks what decides which way you go, sparked by Julie Chenell and Cathy Olson's episode on The Gorgeous Effect, where Julie called that second reaction, dare she say it, a victim mindset.
Jodi gets into the research on benign and malicious envy, and how the drama triangle shows you where you've handed over your power. She also looks at where your sense of agency came from in the first place, and how to step back into the part you can actually influence. When a friend's good news lands with a sting you didn't expect, this one's for you.
