About Humble Wife

My Story Early in my marriage, I struggled to be a humble wife. I was listening more to the world than to God, rebelling, and creating more tension than peace in our home. Hi, I’m Sarah Sand. I am a wife and a mother and I take care of our home. Also, I work part-time as a mental health therapist in Saskatchewan, Canada. I primarily work with women, helping them process their past and become better wives and mothers. My hope in sharing my story is simple: that someone else can move through their challenges a little quicker than I did, and maybe avoid some of the pitfalls along the way. When Things Began to Shift There was a specific moment of initial change. One evening in the middle of fear, overwhelm, and trying to control everything, I finally cried out to God for help. That was six years ago, and it marked the beginning of a real turning point in my life and marriage. Since then, I’ve been on a journey of learning what it means to be a better wife as God intended me to be. What This Podcast Is About Humble Wife is a Christ-centred podcast for women who want to grow in their marriages and experience the joy that can come from doing things God’s way. In each episode, we explore what Scripture says about a wife’s role—learning to respect, support, and honour your husband, and how that secure heart posture can bring more peace into your home. I also share practical, everyday ways to grow which may be helpful in the moments when marriage feels hard or when culture seems to be pulling you in a completely different direction. In this episode of The Humble Wife Podcast, we explore four biblical reasons to accept the mission of being a helpmeet and supporting your husband in the role God has given you. Using a few familiar sidekick comparisons, from Robin and Batman to Penny and Inspector Gadget, we talk honestly about what it means to be a faithful, wise, and resourceful support in marriage.    Being Both on the Battlefield: She’s a Loving, Submissive Wife AND One Who Will Not Cover Sin

(https://rss.com/podcasts/humble-wife/voicemail) In this episode, we continue the conversation about spiritual warfare in marriage and what it means to respond when conflict, fear, anger, pride, or harmful behaviour enters the home. There can be a temptation to respond in one of two unhelpful ways: becoming an enabler by staying silent out of fear, or reacting in anger and bitterness with the same harmful spirit that has come into the situation. Neither response brings healing, truth, or peace to a marriage. Instead, this episode explores a third way: being both a respectful, loving, submissive wife before the Lord and a woman who will not cover sin, tell lies, or call evil good. This is not about trying to control or “fix” a husband. It is about putting God first, praying for His will, listening for the Holy Spirit’s guidance, speaking truth with kindness, and knowing when to wait rather than engage in the middle of wrath. We discuss a practical example of a husband coming home burdened by stress, fear, resentment, and negative thoughts—and how a wife might respond without shrinking in fear or escalating the conflict. You’ll also hear encouragement for how to support children after a tense moment, how to seek understanding rather than simply accuse, and why patience and humility are necessary when God is working in someone’s heart. This episode also includes an important caution: do not become hyper-focused on every annoyance or lose sight of your own heart and personal responsibility. At the same time, abuse, neglect, physical harm, sexual abuse, and exposure to domestic violence are serious concerns that require protection and reporting to the appropriate authorities. Ultimately, this is a call to stand for truth, love, and kindness in the everyday moments of marriage—not just in dramatic circumstances. Through the Holy Spirit, we can choose a different response: one rooted in faith rather than fear, truth rather than denial, and God’s will rather than our own.    A Wife’s Secret Strength: Three Feminine Attributes to Fulfill Your Role as a Wife

   What does it look like to embrace God’s design for women within marriage? In this episode, I talk about three feminine attributes that can help us grow into our role as wives: nurturing, being receptive and attractive to our husbands, and offering encouragement rather than criticism or control. God created men and women differently, with strengths that can complement one another in marriage. As wives, we do not have to compete with our husbands, carry every burden ourselves, or operate from fear. We can choose faith in God’s design and trust Him to work in both us and our husbands. While every man may have qualities from each type, most tend to be strongest in one area. Choosing Joy and Humility to Restore Your Marriage I lost my genuine smile somewhere between wedding vows and here today, trading playful joy for a critical, anxious spirit that quietly pushed my husband away. In this episode, I get real about how pride and control drained the life out of my marriage, and how choosing humility and a merry heart with God brought that smile. I share how I slowly shifted from being my husband's fun-loving buddy to an anxious, critical wife, and how that shift, didn't make him better or make me happier. It just fed a cycle of anger, bitterness, sadness, and fear. I talk honestly about what changed when I stopped focusing on his flaws and started choosing love, humility, and obedience to God, regardless of how my husband was behaving.     Delivered from the New Age: God’s Rescue of My Heart and My Marriage

    In this episode, I share how God delivered me out of New Age spirituality and began to rescue and reshape my marriage. I talk about early spiritual experiences—a vivid dream of breaking glass followed by a real car accident, and a powerful vision of standing in front of Jesus and feeling an overwhelming, indescribable love—and how those moments opened my eyes to the spiritual realm but slowly led me to chase the experience instead of the Source. I walk through how that desire to “feel that way again” pulled me deeper into New Age practices: card pulls, readings, talking to other people’s deceased loved ones, following special numbers, and looking for guidance everywhere except in God’s Word. At the same time, fear, anxious attachment, and a lack of trust were quietly damaging our marriage. You’ll hear how, years later, I ended up in my living room crying out to God to save me and our relationship—and how He began turning on the lights in areas of my life I didn’t even know were dark. I share the moment I chose to lay down every New Age practice at His feet, the healthy fear of God that grew in me, and the freedom, clarity, and lightness that came as He delivered me.
