Hunting Holiness is a podcast for the curious, the wild-hearted, and the truth-seekers—those who aren’t afraid to ask big questions about faith, purpose, and what it really means to live a holy life.
Hosted by SaraJane Gates, this show explores holiness inside and outside the modern American church through unedited conversation, storytelling, and Southern charm. With campfire honesty and laughter-fueled porch-talk energy, each episode tracks holiness in all its unexpected places—from church pews to deer stands, from belly laughs to breakdowns.
What Hunters Already Know- God Shows Up In The Wilderness
If church walls ever felt too small for the God you know—this one’s for you. I’m SaraJane, an ordained minister and lifelong outdoorswoman, and in this episode, we unpack why the woods, water, and wide-open skies feel like home for our souls.
Through five wilderness encounters in Scripture—Moses (calling & people), Hagar (direction & promise), Elijah (rest & boundaries), Jesus (testing & launch), and John the Baptist (clarity & purpose)—you’ll learn simple ways to meet God right where you hunt, fish, hike, or sit on the back porch at sunrise.
What you’ll get:
A practical, non-denominational guide to encountering God in nature
How to turn early mornings afield into true quiet time
Why that “gut feeling” on a hunt is more than adrenaline
A closing prayer to carry into your next dawn patrol—even if you don’t punch a tag
For: women who love the outdoors (and the men cheering them on), mentors bringing first-timers to the stand, and anyone craving a real relationship with God—beyond the concrete walls.
If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with your hunt camp, and drop a comment: Where have you met God outside?

Spoiler: You’re the Predator- Not the Prey
SaraJane kicks off with an unfiltered unboxing of some Orvis upland gear (plus a surprise for Bear), but quickly pivots from practical vests to powerful truth. In this episode, she walks through 1 Peter 1:3–9 and unpacks the spiritual “gear” God gives us—new birth, living hope, and divine authority.
Whether you’re walking a literal field or a season of trials, SJ breaks down why your faith is worth more than gold, how your words create legal contracts in the spiritual realm, and what it means to stop living like prey and start moving like a predator in the Spirit. Raw, rich, and real—this is Bible study with bite.

Next to Him: Nehemiah’s Blueprint for Biblical Leadership
In this Private Land bonus episode, we crack open a book you probably won’t hear quoted much in church: Nehemiah.
Leadership isn’t about titles or positions — it’s about building what matters next to the people God has placed beside you. We’re digging into chapter 3 of Nehemiah to unpack how true biblical leadership is less about control and more about alignment, collaboration, and humility.
From understanding the historical and cultural context, to looking at why reading Scripture in its original languages matters, we’ll explore what it really means to be a Spirit-led leader — one stone, one conversation, one connection at a time.
Bring your Bible (and your highlighters!) — this is a campfire conversation for anyone who feels called to lead with authenticity and purpose.

Ep 2- Walmart Chairs, Africa, and the Voice of God: Learning to Listen
When Laurie Pallotta first moved to a new town, she became the first person to welcome SaraJane—and today, they’re sharing sacred stories you won’t forget.
From growing up in a religion heavy on guilt but light on the Spirit… to learning what it means to really hear from God even when you’re worried about bathroom breaks (you’ll see!)—Laurie’s story is packed with humor, raw honesty, and holy moments.
In this episode, they talk about:
• How rituals and rules almost kept Laurie from real faith
• Why the Holy Spirit was hidden from her—and how she found Him
• What happened when a little girl’s prayers crossed an ocean to a forgotten village
It’s real, it’s raw, and it’s a reminder that God’s voice is louder than any noise in our lives… if we’ll just listen.

Ep 1- From Clubs to Calling: Hearing God Where You Least Expect It
In this very first episode of Hunting Holiness, SaraJane sits down with her dear friend Nevaeh to talk about finding God—not just in the pews, but in the wilderness of real life.
Together, they reflect on how authenticity, surrender, and the sometimes messy journey of faith transformed their lives. Nevaeh shares her powerful story of giving God “one year” to show Himself real—and how that year changed everything, from high school hallways to mission fields across the world.
You’ll hear about radical encounters with the Holy Spirit, learning to move in spiritual authority, and the beautiful, sometimes surprising ways God calls us deeper. From a youth group meeting in Florida to dancing the Gospel in nations through YWAM, this conversation reminds us: God’s presence shows up in the most unexpected places—even in the middle of a club in Jamaica.
Come sit with us. Bring your messy heart. There’s holiness in the hunt.

• How faith actually works in real American life
• Why messy questions and big doubts belong here
• What to expect from future guest stories, solo episodes, and unexpected Holy Spirit moments
