[…] A dissipation board is a small but critical piece of equipment that's becoming a required component in A2L HVAC systems. You may often hear the term RDS which stands for refrigerant detection system. Four years, the HVAC industry relied on A1 class refrigerants like R410A. R410A was a great A1 class refrigerant that had zero ozone depletion potential but had a higher than desired global warming potential. 410A was just a temporary solution to an environmentally friendly refrigerant. So in 2020 the AIM Act was created to phase down HFC refrigerants or production HFC refrigerants like 410A and required manufacturers to use a more environmentally friendly refrigerant that has a lower GWP.
