Let Go of Control
In this episode, I have a conversation with Adam Grossman, Chief Development Officer and Co-Founder of The Selling Factory.

His path includes a stint of surfing and bartending in Australia, reading philosophy on public transit in Boston, becoming a rabbi, founding a startup that didn't work out and now one that's been going strong for five years.

Adam talks about how getting clear on his passion and purpose has been a guide through all of his life changes.

We talk about loneliness and how his company creates a space for positive affirmation and genuine connection for its 80 employees most of whom are college students.

With the wisdom of a former rabbi, Adam reminds us that everything is circular and it's OK to not know what you're not supposed to know.
But at some point you have that realization: Wait a minute, this does work!

Find Adam at thesellingfactory.com

As the final episode of Season 1, I leave you practical advice from leadership coach Helen Hanison.

Find Helen at helenhanison.com

Believe You Can Do It

In this episode, I have a conversation with Nikki Porcher, Founder of Buy From a Black Woman. I love Nikki's story because I relate. She's worked in many jobs, including at a nonprofit. She got bored, and she got fired. (Me too!)

Nikki's boredom led her to running half marathons. That led her to missing a flight. That led her to a curiosity which turned into a passion, which turned into a blog, and that became a directory of black woman-owned businesses.

And now, Nikki is looking forward to setting up Buy From A Black Woman as a Community Development Financial Institution. (If you don't know what that is, listen to the episode. It's a big deal.)

This is a story of transformation --and not only of one person--
but of a whole community and ultimately, it's a story about the transformation of an entire culture.

When Nikki started Buy From a Black Woman five years ago, most people weren't paying attention to how they can support black businesses.

She told me that black women were actually not even putting their faces on their websites because they didn't want to deter customers.

Black women business owners were hiding.

That's changing.

And because Nikki was prepared to grow and achieve her dreams beyond her dreams--available and ready at the right time--she grew.

Buy From a Black Woman is catching the attention of a broader community of consumers and supporters. In fact, Nikki just wrapped up a national tour sponsored by H&M.

Through her story, Nikki reminds us what can happen when you allow yourself to transform and stay open to what can unfold as you dream bigger and believe everything is working for your good.

Find Nikki and join the Buy From a Black Woman community at:

Buy From a Black Woman: https://www.buyfromablackwoman.org

Shop the Directory of Businesses: https://www.buyfromablackwomandirectory.org

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BuyfromaBlackWoman

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/buyfromablackwoman/

Twitter: https://twitter.com/BFABWInfo

YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7ft9vktaXbtdhKknevTY5A

This show is sponsored by my company, Concurrent Productions. Be Who You Truly Are

Alison Lumbatis is a million dollar entrepreneur who turned a fashion blog into a business.

But it's so much more than a fashion blog. As founder of Get Your Pretty On, Alison created a community of people that's all about being who you really are and expressing your inner self through what you wear.

I love this approach. I don't consider myself a "fashion person." But I do have a personal style and I love the way Alison talks about the connection between what you wear and who you are.

Alison sees her role as guiding people through the outer expressions of major life transitions--the internal shifts that are expressed through external shifts.

We talk about growth and different phases of business ownership. Alison shares was different about side businesses she had before and Get Your Pretty On, the one that took off.

We cover the idea of expressing your own identity instead of wearing something like a uniform for someone else.

We talk about accountability and how getting dressed in the morning--even if you don;t see anyone else all day--is about being accountability to yourself.

With fashion, like your own business, you can try different things, fail fast, do something different every day and just figure out what works for you.

Find Alison and join the Get Your Pretty On community at:

GetYourPrettyOn.com

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/getyourprettyon

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_getyourprettyon/

Freebies: https://getyourprettyon.com/freebies/

This show is sponsored by my company, Concurrent Productions.
