Fire In Babylon

The sad thing about any struggle for equity and fairness is its permanence and immutability. One of the happiest things to behold in any walk of life is when something or someone stands out and asserts their dignity. And when that is done against all odds being on the wrong side of this deeply divided world with unbridgeable disparities, it creates history.

This is a similar story of triumph and a story that is most unlikely to be repeated. If at all there is something that I enjoy more than cricket, it is the wonder of West Indians playing it. And this is a story about them, my greatest sporting icons ever.

Happy listening!

Show Notes - https://bit.ly/IWBTS01E05ShowNotes

Music Credits - https://bit.ly/IWBTS01E05MusicCredits

(c) Copyright 2020 MotorMouth Media Pvt Ltd

Train Of Thoughts Of Trains

It's said that in the final moments of our life, people and things flash past our eyes. If it's true and if it happens to me, I know that I'll be looking out of the window of a train. It'll be a train that will carry me away and give me a glimpse of my life. This episode is about trains and Indian Railways as being the ultimate embodiment of India, as something that we ought to be but almost never are. The Indian train as the greatest and the most unassuming public servant that ever was. The Indian train that moves in every sense of the word. The Indian train as the obsessee to one of its most insignificant obsessor even before Sheldon Cooper made it seem cool. Happy listening! The High-Noon Of Her Misery

This is a deeply personal journey full of epiphanies and discoveries. And it’s got all the regular tropes of personal inspirations: art, past events & people, dreams and all of that. And yet it is nothing so singular or extraordinary that regular humans cannot feel. None of what I will say will be new or hitherto unfelt by any of us. Also, none of what I will say can be said enough. This time of the year, as Indians, we invoke proud memories of the architects of our independence and the warriors of its struggle. Today, let us also think of those who are too fighting a battle for a form of freedom many of us take for granted. These times, dark and daunting as they are even for us, are even more dispiriting for some others. And there couldn't be a better aid to move us than the magical and heart-breaking verse of one of the greatest poets of modern Hindi literature. Happy listening!
