During the podcast, our host and Leanne discussed how generational differences are often exaggerated in the media. For instance, negative stereotypes about Gen Z—such as being entitled or unable to handle criticism—are not reflections of reality. Instead, historical analysis shows that each generation has faced similar criticisms at different times. For example, many of the criticisms aimed at Gen Z were once directed at Baby Boomers during their youth.
Interestingly, a meta-analysis involving nearly 160,000 workers revealed minimal significant generational differences in attitudes toward work. The key takeaway is that while there are varying perspectives shaped by historical contexts, many core values around work are similar.
