Passion is the Key to Success with Laura Reyes from Viceroy Riviera Maya

During this interview I couldn't help but get lost in a daydream that I was sipping spicy jalapeno margaritas on the beaches of Riviera Maya sitting at the luxury beach resort, Viceroy (https://www.viceroyhotelsandresorts.com/riviera-maya). This place truly looks like a dream come true. And head over to their website for 35% specials right now. Now if only I weren't pregnant and you know, covid, I would totally be all over this. Covid19 and the Wedding Industry

Let's talk the dreaded C word. Covid... coronavirus... that pesky pandemic that shook up 2020 and threw it on its head and disrupted so many individuals and especially the wedding industry. I'm truly not sure what industry took the hardest hit but from personal experience I know that we felt the hit hard. Ivory & Beau alone had over 40 weddings postponed and a handful of weddings completely cancel. It has hurt. 2020 started as one of the strongest years in business and quickly became one of the most stressful years in business. From trying to determine the best course of action moving forward to keep the business afloat to having to make those hard decisions to close the doors then cutting employee hours, it has been a headache after headache followed by tears. Listen along as I talk with one of our wedding planners, Megan Johnson, who is also getting married herself as we chat about covid's effects on the wedding industry. And then I take over to chat all about how we were able to overcome the hurdles covid threw at us. Also, be sure to read the blog (https://www.ivoryandbeau.com/ib-wed-podcast/coronavirus-effect-on-the-wedding-industry) to get more details! Quit Your Day Job & Break into the Wedding Industry with Fete Chalet

So excited to have Marguerite on the podcast! This girl boss is seriously rad and has not 1 but 3 seriously rad business ventures that she is rocking. I first met Marguerite back in 2017 when she was running Fete Savannah, a company that planned bachelorette and girls' trips to Savannah. She came in to meet with us and then casually mentioned she was starting Fete Chalet, a bar out of a CAMPER. I knew instantly I HAD to book her for my husband and I's wedding and wow best decision ever. Before Marguerite jumped headfirst into the wedding industry she was a chemist! What a switch right?! On the interview we talk about her transition from chemist to self-employed. Marguerite is a true inspiration for anybody looking to quit their day job to follow their dreams. This is just a Season

In my very first podcast episode I share a short inspirational message about how everything we go through is a season. Some seasons (hello, right now - covid19, riots...) are harder than others but you just have to keep moving through them. During the storms the best thing to do is hold tight and wait it out. Life will not always be a storm, it will get better. And during business shutdowns due to the craziness of the 2020 environment, it is definitely a storm we are going through as small business owners. This episode marks the first in what will hopefully be a long running podcast show sharing motivation for wedding industry vendors, tips and lessons that I've learned throughout running a business since 2013. For more - be sure to subscribe to my weekly e-newsletter which will feature episode notes, diving deeper into topics and worksheets to help you catapult yourself forward in your business!
