About Ibrahim Bakeer

Ibrahim Bakeer, also spelled Ibrahim Bakir or Qari Ibrahim Bakeer, is a contemporary Quran reciter and educator originally from Cairo, Egypt. He graduated from Al-Azhar University and currently serves as an imam and teacher at the Islamic Society of Greater Kansas. He specializes in murattal recitation of the Hafs ‘an ‘Asim riwāyah, often exploring classical Arabic maqāmāt—such as Maqam Rast and Kurd—in extended recitations of surahs like Al-Mu’minūn and Yūsuf, reflecting both technical depth and melodic richness. His public roles include leading recitation classes and delivering lessons on Qur’anic modes (maqāmāt), frequently appearing at institutions like Islamic schools and mosques in North America. Ibrahim Bakeer’s recitations are featured worldwide via audio collections and live broadcasts, appreciated by listeners who favor a balanced blend of Tajwīd precision and emotive expression.
