In this episode, I sit down with comedy veteran Bruce Bruce to talk about his Netflix stand-up special “I Ain’t Playin” and what this moment means after more than three decades in the game.
From his early days on “Comic View” and “Def Comedy Jam” to reaching the Netflix stage, Bruce Bruce opens up about longevity, evolving with social media, and why today’s comedians have to build their own audience before the industry comes calling.
He shares why he does not just tell jokes, but tells real-life stories and makes them funny.
We also talk about family, old-school values, raising adult children, keeping business in the family, and the lessons he learned from his grandfather that still guide him today.
Bruce gets candid about the pressures of cancel culture, the topics he chooses to avoid, and why being nice costs nothing.
Plus, he reveals he is already working on his next special and plans to drop another one in 2027.
