Stiamo per finire il nostro tour in un'altra piazza di Amsterdam - Nieuwmarkt - il Mercato Nuovo. Questa piazza non è nel De Wallen, ma a Chinatown, perciò qui sono presenti molti ristoranti orientali. Episode 17: Su monaci e uomini
Questa è una zona speciale del Quartiere a Luci Rosse. Le strade alla tua destra si chiamano Bloedstraat e Monnikenstraat, - Via del Sangue e Via del Monaco. Nel Medioevo, la maggior parte dei monasteri di Amsterdam (che erano oltre 30) si trovavano in quello che oggi è il Quartiere a Luci Rosse. Così, i nomi delle strade sono rimasti a testimonianza di quell'epoca, anche se il circondario è mutato.Una delle stradine parallele al canale, un paio di anni fa, è stata denominata Vicolo dei Blue Jeans. La storia dietro a questo nome è piuttosto curiosa. Una ragazza che lavorava qui, stanca della solita tenuta in bikini o lingerie, decise di indossare degli short di blue jeans. La ragazza divenne molto popolare e, in un batter d'occhio, metà delle donne in queste strade adottarono lo stesso tipo di abbigliamento. Ecco qui una piccola dimostrazione di marketing di successo nel mondo della prostituzione.In queste strade lavorano molte ragazze asiatiche, ma l'angolo tra Nieuwe Acherburgwal e Bloedstraat è considerato anche l'angolo dei transessuali.
