In this episode, Thomas sits down with Temi, a UK-trained GP who made the life-changing decision to leave the UK and move with his family to Adelaide, Australia.
Temi shares his honest experience of life as a GP in the UK compared with his first six months working in Australia, including the reasons he wanted to leave, the challenges of making the move with a young family, his experience settling into a new healthcare system, and the huge differences he's found in lifestyle, income, autonomy and work-life balance.
From working long days in Lincoln and feeling increasingly burned out, to driving along the beach to work in Adelaide and developing a special interest in dermatology and skin cancer, Temi explains why he now feels that Australia is starting to feel like home.

I Was a UK GP - Here’s Why I Packed Up and Started Over in Australia
In this episode of Ticket to Aus, Thomas sits down with Shedrack, a UK-trained GP who made the move to Australia with our support, to talk through what it is really like to start again on the other side of the world.
Shedrack shares an honest account of the relocation process, from the initial decision to leave UK general practice through to navigating the practical challenges of the move. He reflects on what he found difficult, what surprised him, and what he wishes he had known beforehand.
Most importantly, he talks about life now. With stronger earnings, more time away from work, and far less day-to-day pressure, Shedrack explains how the move has allowed him to enjoy his free time properly, build a social life, and regain a sense of balance that had been missing.
