Die gläsernen Sarkophage
Der große Arzt Rudolf Virchow begründete die Pathologische Sammlung der Charité in Berlin, die mit 23.000 Körperteilen einzigartig war. Im Krieg wurde das Gebäude zerstört, aber über 8.000 in Gläsern und Schränken aufbewahrte Dokumente und Raritäten blieben erhalten. Die Sammlung berichtet von den Veränderungen menschlicher Krankheiten. Sie zeigt auch monströse Varianten, die der menschliche Körperbau annehmen kann: Janusköpfe, Einäugige, Zusammengewachsene und Monster. Dr. nat. Peter Krietsch und der Direktor des Pathologischen Instituts in der Charité, Dr.med. Manfred Dietel, interpretieren. Die Sammlung soll bis 1999 zu einem Berliner Medizin-Historischen Museum ausgebaut werden.
