<p>In 2022, Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez introduced their first cohort of mental health ambassadors for their Rare Impact Program. Now, a year later, three ambassadors and nationally recognized advocates; Adia Fadaei, Catherine Delgado, and Seika Brown, have come together to showcase the amazing work and minds of their fellow ambassadors. For the entire month of May, tune in to learn more about Rare Beauty’s Ambassador Program, and to hear more about the great work of each of their ambassadors.</p><p>Adia Fadaei is a 20-year-old Iranian-American woman, mental health, and suicide prevention advocate from Los Angeles, California. Her advocacy work has been featured at the nation’s first Mental Health Youth Action Forum hosted by MTV and Viacom CBS, in coordination with the Biden-Harris administration and Selena Gomez, held at the White House in 2022. Her work supports local and national mental health initiatives.</p><p>Catherine Delgado is a 19-year-old mental health activist from San Diego, California. She co-founded the Student Wellbeing Education and Resource Committee (SWEAR) in the San Diego Unified School District which unanimously passed legislation within the school district's board of education to provide mental health education. Catherine was also a member of Mental Health America’s Young Mental Health Council in 2022.</p><p>Seika Brown is a 21-year-old Japanese-American researcher who advocates for mental health. At the age of 15, she founded a youth organization on mental health policy based in Washington State. For three years, she led her team through two legislative sessions, passing one bill in 2019. In 2020, she founded a private research initiative where she works closely with the WHO, UNICEF, and a multitude of other institutions. In 2021 she was awarded the mPower Award from Mental Health America and has been recognized by the Gates Foundation as a young changemaker.</p>

<p>Adia Fadaei is a 20-year-old Iranian-American woman and mental health and suicide prevention advocate from Los Angeles, California. Her passion for eradicating the stigma surrounding mental health and suicidality began during her work in high school at Teen Line as a hotline listener, outreach presenter, and intern. She volunteers currently at Didi Hirsch Suicide Prevention Center as a crisis counselor for the 988 Crisis &amp; Suicide Lifeline and member of their Speakers Bureau while being a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's in Psychology at Point Loma Nazarene University, where she is currently a Mental Health Promotion Intern. She is currently a member of the Love is Respect Youth Council, a campaign of the National Domestic Violence Hotline, and was part of the Inaugural 2022 Mental Health is Health Youth Ambassador for Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services. Over the years, Adia has served on advisory boards with Bring Change to Mind and The National Center for the Prevention of Youth Suicide, has advocated for mental health legislation with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and has worked in eliminating barriers to eating disorder treatment with Project HEAL. She is uniquely passionate about suicide prevention and youth mental health initiatives in school settings and the nonprofit sector. She represents youth in mental health engagement amongst senior leadership at the Substance Use and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Department of Health &amp; Human Services (HHS), &amp; The Office of the U.S. Surgeon General. Adia Fadaei's advocacy work has been featured at the nation's first Mental Health Youth Action Forum hosted by MTV and Viacom CBS, in coordination with the Biden-Harris administration and Selena Gomez, held at the White House.</p>

For Lauren, mental health has always been on her periphery but in the last year, she entered college, started working, and began her career all at once. It was through this process that she became extremely aware of the importance of mental health in the lives of college students and how necessary it is for students to know how to take care of themselves. <p>Cyn Gomez is a first-generation, third year at UC Berkeley, studying Social Welfare with minors in Race and Law &amp; Spanish. Cyn’s pronouns are he/him and they/them and identify as nonbinary and transmasculine. Cyn is an election poll worker, Berkeley Student Cooperative Board Representative, a student worker at UC Berkeley, ASUC EAVP State Government Relations Director, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Director for the mental health non-profit organization for the Tangible Movement. Cyn enjoys reading and public speaking and is enthusiastic about advocating for the importance of mental health, human rights, and social justice. They hope to be a lawyer and congresspersons in the future. His main goal in life is to impact lives through politics, reforming systems that have caused historic traumas, and ensuring the rights of others.</p>
