From Romulus to the fall of the West… this is Imperium.
Rome did not begin as an empire. It began with refugees, shepherds, kings, and legends that shaped one of history's greatest civilizations.
Imperium is a cinematic retelling of Roman history built directly from the ancient historians themselves. Drawing from Livy, Dionysius of Halicarnassus, Plutarch, Virgil, and other classical sources, each episode transforms the surviving texts into an immersive narrative while remaining faithful to what the Romans recorded about their own past.
This is not historical fiction. It is Rome's story, told through the voices that preserved it.
Seasons are released in bingeable volumes, allowing listeners to experience each era of Roman history as a complete narrative—from the fall of Troy and the founding of Rome to the birth of the Republic, the rise of the Empire, and ultimately, the fall of the West.

Rome has expelled its king. Now it must prove that he will never return.
For the first time since Romulus, the city stands without a throne. But the new order is fragile, and Tarquin is still alive. As Rome struggles to build a government without kings, the revolution faces its first tests from within and without. The hated Tarquin name threatens the new consulship, royalist conspirators plot to restore the monarchy, and Lucius Junius Brutus is forced to choose between his own sons and the oath he made to Rome.
Then Tarquin turns to war.
At the Silva Arsia, Brutus comes face-to-face with Arruns Tarquinius—the prince who once mocked him on the road to Delphi—and the struggle for Rome's future is settled at terrible personal cost.
Drawing on Livy and Dionysius of Halicarnassus, the Season I finale follows the dangerous first days after the fall of the kings, as Rome begins transforming rebellion into something meant to endure.
The king is gone. The throne is empty. But removing a monarch was only the beginning.
Rome must now make its promise permanent:
Never again.

The Fall of the Kings
A stalled siege outside Ardea begins a chain of events that will bring Rome’s monarchy crashing down.
When a drunken contest among Rome’s young aristocrats leads Sextus Tarquinius to Lucretia, the brutality of Tarquin’s dynasty finally enters the heart of a Roman household. Lucretia’s tragedy becomes the spark that years of tyranny, executions, confiscations, forced labor, and fear had prepared Rome to receive.
Drawing on Livy, Dionysius of Halicarnassus, and the poetic memory preserved by Ovid, this episode follows Lucretia’s accusation, the revelation of the true Lucius Junius Brutus, and the uprising that spreads from Collatia to Rome itself.
As Brutus turns private vengeance into a public reckoning, Romans are forced to decide whether they will continue to endure the family that has ruled them through fear. Tarquin races back toward his capital while Brutus races toward the Roman army—and the fate of more than two centuries of kingship hangs between them.
For the first time since Romulus, Rome is about to discover what it means to exist without a king.

The Last King
Rome has a king. But Rome never chose him.
After seizing the throne through violence, Lucius Tarquinius Superbus begins transforming kingship into tyranny. Surrounded by armed guards, Tarquin sidelines the Senate, eliminates political rivals, drives opponents into exile, confiscates their property, and forces ordinary Romans into exhausting labor on the monumental projects reshaping the city.
Beyond Rome, the Latin nobleman Turnus Herdonius dares to challenge the king, and discovers how far Tarquin is willing to go to silence an enemy. Meanwhile, one of Rome's strangest traditions unfolds when a mysterious woman offers Tarquin the prophetic Sibylline Books.
But hidden within the royal household is another story.
Lucius Junius Brutus has survived Tarquin by allowing everyone to believe he is a fool. When he accompanies the king's sons to the Oracle at Delphi, a prophecy is given concerning who will someday hold supreme power in Rome.
The princes hear the words.
Brutus understands them.
Episode XVIII: The Last King explores the reign that taught generations of Romans to fear the very idea of a king, and introduces the man quietly waiting for the moment when Rome will finally stop being afraid.
