A cancer diagnosis is a personal experience that affects entire families, not just a single person. Sharing with others about a diagnosis and your journey is often done with the people we love and trust. Frequently, the dynamics of relationships and friendships transition and adjust when people experience a life changing diagnosis. Cancer can be very isolating, and losing companionship as a result is devastating. Let's get real about all aspects of a cancer diagnosis and how it affects those around us. Addressing how others can help, open lines of communication, and encourage their loved ones during their cancer journey is the purpose of discussing life In Confidence.
We talk all about the people that surrounded Alyssa and Ryan as they navigated his cancer battle. We discuss how people supported them and how those relationships changed during Ryans cancer battle. Alyssa gives some great examples of ways people were able to help both emotionally and tangibly throughout Ryan's battle. She speaks of ways people showed up for her and let her know they were thinking of her and supporting her each and everyday.

The transformation of spouse to caregiver is a hard one. The mental load as well as emotional support is a lot for one person to handle.
