I did not speak a word of English on my first day of kindergarten. When the teacher pulled me to the center of the reading circle, something settled into me that took decades to unsettle: who I am is the wrong kind of person to be.
This episode is me reading my chapter from Paper Crowns Volume3, out loud, start to finish.
It is about the thing in you that has never quite fit. The way you have always been slightly outside the circle, even in rooms full of people who like you. The quiet suspicion that everyone else got a manual you never received.
I spent years trying to find that thing so I could fix it. What I eventually understood is that it was never broken. It was placed there. Genesis says we are made in the image of God, and God is too vast for any one life to carry — so He distributed Himself across all of us, and gave each person a facet of His nature that only they can reveal.
The thing that makes you feel like you do not belong anywhere may be the exact thing that lets you belong everywhere.
It is not a flaw. It is a fingerprint.

She Laughs Without Fear: How to Laugh When You're Walking Through Hell (Proverbs 31:25)

Generosity Isn't Giving More. It's Learning to Receive
When I told my friend Veronica I saw generosity in her, she laughed: "Me? Generous? Really?"
Many tie generosity to money. It's so much more than that.
Veronica O'Brien has lived a lot of lives — nurse, surgery center director, real estate, and now building a tech startup with her husband. But her real work is pouring into women: mentoring, exhorting, drawing out the gifts God placed in her friends. This week's character trait is generous and this conversation will change how you think about giving.
