Lance Lansdale | MM Author, NOT writing to market, niching his books and writing through grief.

Ever felt like an imposter in your own success? Here's how MM author, Lance Lansdale (https://www.instagram.com/lancetastik?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==), turned that doubt into determination, even through the unfortunate events of grief. Share with someone who needs to hear this! or watch on YouTube (https://l.instagram.com/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutube.com%2F%40readingwritingpodcast%3Fsi%3DXQ_AeUoQN1VKc21p%26fbclid%3DPAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQMMjU2MjgxMDQwNTU4AAGnZ7jAz_ooMzHQTh9_BpUJuWGpIo20QnVJ4q1hJbxTD5TqJA4HBwsLeWyNaz8_aem_s2hZ8FLPa0WvEfV2hkm8Zw&e=AT7T8I7eTrkSyDye9Px88RHFfXLAtb_1KJllymuBDa9T8Ow-fC5SnYKGMCUmJqSvsrQpI2RLQe2SqBs_kudNSLBW3wGCbho6oPq0Op6KDg) "When I first saw my book in a bookstore, I couldn't believe it. I was just a writer behind a screen, creating steamy romances and thinking- Who would read this? But the love for my characters, Scotty and Brody, is real, and it blows my mind. - Lance Lansdale "It's crazy how far I've come in just a few years. Each new edition feels like a wild dream come true, especially with the gorgeous new special edition of 'F*ck, Mary, Kill Me, Daddy.' The shiny foil, the purple edges—I'm obsessed! It’s surreal, and I’m grateful for every bit of love". - Lance Lansdale So, here’s Stuart's (https://www.instagram.com/stuart.dejour_author/) takeaway: 1. Own your journey. 2. Every step, every doubt, and every triumph is part of your story. 3. Let it inspire you. What’s your favourite moment in your creative journey? Stuart talks about criticism, deleting 90k words & reads an excerpt from his WIP.

Ever lost your entire work? I did, and it felt like losing a part of myself. 😱 Tag someone who needs to hear this! Let me tell you about my meltdown when my phone crashed. I realised how dependent I had become on technology for my writing. It was a wake-up call to reconnect with my creativity more tangibly. Now, I jot down ideas in a cloud-based program instead, rediscovering the joy of writing without the safety net of my phone. Currently, I’m drafting a story that’s evolving from a romance to a gripping thriller, "You Don’t Stop Talking." It’s about a serial killer who doesn’t take silence lightly. The journey has been messy, and I’m learning to embrace the imperfections. Remember, not everyone will resonate with your work, and that’s okay. Every piece of writing is a step in your growth.
