Brothers Joseph and Zachary Kotzker discuss the Fast and Furious franchise from the best viewpoint possible: complete ignorance. Join them as they consume the entire franchise In Reverse order, starting with Fast X and moving backwards towards the very beginning.
S3E8. The Fast and the Furious - A Kiss on the Top of His Bald Head
At long last, we've done it. Finally, years now after the original prophesy delivered to Zach in a dream, we've fulfilled our ultimate goal of watching the entire Fast franchise back-to-front. We've finally sat down and watched the original 2001 film, The Fast and the Furious. In some ways, it was exactly what we expected. But in some other important ways, it was almost nothing like what we expected. So how does it hold up against everything that came afterwards? What does it mean for the finale to come full circle to the beginning? In this, our season 3 finale and the fulfillment of our original promise, join us as we pull out all the stops for a true extravaganza episode. And thank you, as always, for listening.
Special thanks to our brothers and returning special guests, Michael and David!

S3E7. Racer X and Beyond - Return to Banana Pirate Island
We're finally almost ready to watch the first film, 2001's The Fast and the Furious. But before we can do that, we've got one last origin point to take a look at, some bonus content about the original film to analyze, and some important housekeeping to get out of the way. We discuss the true story of the 1998 VIBE Magazine article Racer X, which inspired the first film, and also bonus material for The Fast and the Furious: an alternate ending, as well as some interviews regarding the real world of street racing! Finally, we wrap this one up with an in-depth discussion of the (unofficial) completely authoritative one true timeline of the Fast Saga, and nail down our official tier rankings of all the films in this franchise that we've seen so far. So buckle up for one last ride before our season finale, and our discussion of The Fast and the Furious!
Note: Zach's timeline slides are embedded as chapter art in the podcast file if your podcast player supports that, if not, head to our Instagram (link below) to see them!

S3E6. Better Luck Tomorrow - The Drifter in the Rye
Continuing our exploration of the origins of the franchise, we turn this episode to a film we knew very little about going in-- Justin Lin's 2002 film Better Luck Tomorrow. Mainly known to Fastheads as the origin of Sung Kang's character Han Lue, we didn't really know what to expect going into this movie. We were, generally speaking, pleasantly surprised by this very early work of Justin Lin's, and it left us with a lot to think about-- both in terms of the messages and themes of the film itself, as well as-- somewhat complicatedly-- how it relates to the broader Fast Saga.
The tone and content of this episode is a little different than what we normally do on this show, and in addition to discussing some heavier-than-usual topics we were unable to avoid spoilers in our discussion past a certain point. Important listening notes and warnings are as follows-- and if you'd like to watch the film before listening, we do wholeheartedly recommend that.
Content Warning: This film is loosely based on true events, so as part of the discussion of this film we discuss the details of a real murder. If you'd like to skip that, it is marked as a chapter if your player supports those, and if not, the section to skip is from 01:16:38 to 01:28:40. Also, in discussing this film we cover some of the events of the film which themselves might be disturbing to listeners, and which include drug use, prostitution, murder, and self-harm. Please exercise your own judgement about your comfort level with these topics.
Spoilers Note: As mentioned, spoilers begin at 00:22:55, after which point they are discussed freely as we found it impossible to discuss this film and its connection with the broader Fast Saga without discussing the ending. Feel free to go watch the movie and then return to listen, OR to ignore this warning entirely-- exercise your own judgement.
