[…] Starting a public school and naming it for the president is definitely a savvy move. By the early 1800s, Harrison and other men in the community were ready to establish higher education. This school was a grandfather of sorts for today's Vincennes University. The one-room schoolhouse is always fun for kids to see, from the dunce cap to the teacher's living quarters in the back. But to tell this story really well, we need to learn about William Henry Harrison. He was born in Virginia in 1773, so was technically a British citizen at birth.
